  7. DESTIN, Fla. -- Earlier this morning, Tennessee coach Josh Heupel emerged from a working session with his eyes slightly glazed. Heupel and his SEC coaching peers had just spent more than three hours discussing the future of college football. Heupel said the possibility of roster reductions occupied the "majority" of the coaches' meeting. And the coaches are being asked to tackle all of the questions, including: How many scholarships should there be? What about walk-ons? What number do you need to have on your roster to maintain both the safety and integrity of the sport? The prevailing thought here in Destin at the SEC spring meetings is that the future of …

  9. Started by Bobby Burton,

We’re roughly a week away from recruiting being full blown. The Texas June Elite Camp for underclassmen is becoming the singular stop for most of the state’s best 2026 recruits. Then we have three weekends back-to-back-to-back official visits with at least 44 official visits scheduled. ** Some of the key questions we’re monitoring for the next few weeks: 1. Does Steve Sarkisian attempt to go hard for one of the young signal callers following the June Elite Camp? Either Troy Huhn or Dia Bell? 2. Which receivers will Texas truly prioritize coming out of official visits? Dakorien Moore is obvious. Jamie Ffrench appears so, too. But who else?…

  18. The Week of Practice Ahead of Mississippi State Game The Longhorns board for Starkville Friday afternoon for what is hoping to be a bounce back performance against Mississippi State. Defensively, after seeing 89 snaps on the field in Lexington, the staff ensured a lighter workload at the beginning of the week. Texas practiced Monday, and did so without helmets. Basically a longer walk-through to try and save some energy on the legs while installing the game plan for the week. Texas got back to work as the week progressed, but there is an obvious intent to play a more complementary style to protect the energy and snap count of the defense. Look for Dere…

The Longhorns are nearing their healthiest level as a team since before fall camp began and will enter The Swamp next Saturday very well rested. Right now, majority of players on the team made a quick trip back home to see parents and friends. Sarkisian said on Monday during his weekly press conference he hopes this is a chance for his guys to watch football from around the country. The team will return Sunday evening for a quick team meeting then return to the practice field for full Florida prep …
