A couple of practice nuggets now that the Texas Longhorns are within ten days of kickoff for the 2024 season. *** – C Jake Majors has been back on the field for the past two days of practice. Majors has been active and participating in team drills despite being held out of the Longhorns second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday with an ankle sprain. Again, to echo Steve Sarkisian, it was more a "business decision" to hold Majors out of the scrimmage. Sarkisian's out of state wins on the recruiting trail Steve Sarkisian and staff have brought national recruiting to the Texas program. With the commitment this morning of Jaime Ffrench, the Longhorns have seven commitments from out of state prospects in the 2025 class with a chance at 10 for a third straight class. Ffrench's pledge is a big one, as this is the first national recruiting win in the very talented Jacksonville (Fla.) area in the last 30 years, if not ever. Texas now has a 36 combined out of state signees in the 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. The Longhorns have a total of 96 signees/commitments in the classes, meaning Sarkisian and …

Berymon, 6-2 and 305, was offered by the Longhorns June 1 after a standout performance at the Texas Elite Camp. On Saturday, the 4-star+ junior made his first game day visit to Texas. Arch Manning sets a Texas freshman passing record Arch Manning is now in the University of Texas freshman record book in a number of passing categories. The redshirt freshman started the UL-Monroe and Mississippi State games with Quinn Ewers on the mend after an abdominal strain. Manning also saw extensive action after the Ewers injury in the second quarter in the UTSA contest. The New Orleans native has made the most of his opportunities leading the No. 2/1 ranked Longhorns, and that includes now being in the record book. Texas is headed to Fayetteville for their matchup against Arkansas as we speak. While I am trekking the unamusing streets of Oklahoma, the team will be flying out of Austin and landing soon this morning. I did catch up with a source regarding the week of practice ahead of the trip to Fayetteville this weekend. New legislation in the state of Virginia allows state institutions to pay for the NIL of student athletes. However, that legislation is at odds with current NCAA rules, which do not allow universities to pay for a student-athlete's NIL. Are Virginia and Virginia Tech going to defy NCAA rules and still expect to play for NCAA championships? What effect will this have on other states, what effect will it have on other lawsuits as a whole? I am told that there have already been discussions in Belmont about the Virginia ruling today. Chris Jackson is in the Peach State this afternoon where he extended an offer to an elite 2026 prospect. Texas is officially in the boat now for 2026 Kaiden Prothro, a 6-foot-6 WR/TE prospect with 26 offers now. Prothro is ranked a top-30 prospect in the country for the 2026 class at the moment. Texas offered 2025 Mansfield Timberview and current SMU DB Nathan Tilmon Saturday morning. Tilmon committed to SMU on February 3rd, as the Mustang staff has done a tremendous job this cycle of getting out in front of a number of talented 2025 area prospects. Since then, he has earned offers from Arizona State, UTEP and now Texas. The offseason is absolutely rolling when each time the ESPN FPI rankings get updated and luckily we enter the summer chapter of college football's return with a new ranking to discuss. Texas comes in at No. 3 – about where their consensus ranking has them. OnTexasFootball was informed that Conroe (Texas) High 4-star cornerback Dorian Brew is making his visit to UCS this weekend around a local graduation of a family member on the mother’s side. The family is in the process of shuffling the OV schedule the remainder of the month, and Texas is expected to receive a weekend official visit (either June 14-16 or 21-23).
