Texas added its top target at safety on Friday afternoon in Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson four-star prospect Junior Tu’upo. As Dakorien Moore, the state’s no. 1 prospect, approaches his announcement this evening, his commitment will not make or break the Texas Longhorns. Nobody in Austin is surprised Dakorien Moore de-committed from LSU. For us at OTF, it was a matter of when. After Moore and family members visited earlier in the spring, I had it at 51% for Texas. I now have it at 65% for Texas. A lot of pull on the Texas side, and confidence in Austin remains high. The news of Cade Haug’s decommitment caught me by surprise yesterday, but hey, modern recruiting is modern recruiting. I actually liked that Texas took Haug’s commitment but I understand and respect the front office staff for staying put on their number. Yes, the current linebacker picture is bleak with Houston commit Jerrell Bridges being the only target the Longhorns seem to be in on at this juncture. Yesterday we were reminded of just how tenuous a relationship is between a player and his own future. It's a relationship that hangs in the balance with each and every decision an 18-to-22-year old player makes. The situation involving S'Maje Burrell, the redshirt freshman linebacker from North Crowley, is case and point. Burrell allegedly was the driver of the car that rear-ended T'Vondre Sweat. Running back CJ Baxter is the only player listed as “doubtful” in this week’s initial injury availability report submitted to conference officials yesterday. Baxter has missed multiple practices in the past week while dealing with a lower leg injury sustained on the very first play of the UTEP game.
