We talked in the preseason about how much more “physical” the SEC is as a conference than the Big 12. Well, I think I understated that importance. All you have to see for proof is the vast number of injuries across the conference. While most will mention the QBs, and rightfully so given Texas may face two back-ups over the next two weeks, it’s really the week-in, week-out wear and tear on a team’s entire roster. Texas has hired James Madison Assistant Special Teams Coach and Specialists Coach Matt Moran to the staff as a Special Teams Analyst. Moran spent 2024 at James Madison and 2023 at Boston College. Before then, Moran was the Assistant Special Teams Coordinator at Stanford from 2015–2022. Moran and new Texas defensive backs coach Duane Akina overlapped from 2015–2022 at Stanford. Texas wide receiver target Briceson Thrower will announce his college decision on July 17, the North Forney (Texas) product posted on his Instagram on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Thrower is set to officially visit Texas June 19-21. 2028 DL Kellan Hall to Visit Texas May 31st **** The Longhorns will be hosting a massive 2028 prospect at the end of the month for the Elite Camp. Kellan Hall, a five-star defensive lineman out of the Christian Academy of Louisville, will be one of the headliners for the Longhorns Elite Camp on the 31st. Another OV this weekend locked in OnTexasFootball has learned that Petal (Miss.) High defensive lineman Corey Wells is scheduled to make an official visit to Texas this weekend. The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder made an OV to Ole Miss last weekend, and has June visits to Auburn and Mississippi State also on the docket. Latest Intel on 2026 DB Yaheim Riley I met up with 2026 Austin Anderson DB Yaheim Riley last night a Bam Performance training session up in Manor for the latest on his recruitment. Riley was offered by new Texas nickels coach Keynodo Hudson on Monday, becoming the first offer by Hudson since the title change. Riley is still committed to Houston, and has been since making his decision back in December of 2024. Though I would say the Texas offer certainly caught his interest.
