  1. The recruitment of Lubbock Monterey standout Aaliyah Chavez continues to roll on with multiple schools anxiously awaiting a final decision from the nation's No. 1 overall player for 2025. Chavez is down to four schools: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and South Carolina. She cut LSU from that list before January and just recently decided against UCLA as well. I'm told that South Carolina is an intriguing option, but the distance factor will play against them and they're the least likely of the four options as of now. When it comes to Texas Tech, they continue to try and sell the "hometown hero" aspect to Chavez, but both sources believed if she was going to be …

  2. If you want the bottom line, here it is. I don’t do Crystal Balls or RPMs, or whatever the new name is. But here’s what I think will occur today (I have no need for a confidence level, because this is what I genuinely believe; it’s not a straight guess): - Lamont Rogers - Missouri - Riley Pettitjohn - Ohio State or USC (not Texas) - Kade Phillips - Texas Texas and Blake Gideon have done a terrific job with Phillips. Whether true or not, Rogers seemed to feel less important than others at his position. Personally, I think he has as much upside or more than all other tackles on the board. Pettijohn, according to a source, did not have…

  4. Started by Bobby Burton,

Some folks have suggested multiple reasons for Texas’ recent swoon in recruiting. Well, I’m here to tell you that there’s really only one reason - NIL. If this were just a year ago, and Texas had more funds to distribute, there’s little doubt in my mind that the Longhorns would hold the no. 1 recruiting class in the country. The reception Texas has been receiving on the recruiting trail has been enormous. But, unfortunately, it’s not last year. The House Settlement was passed and the recruiting class of 2026 must abide by it (at least some of the schools seem prepared to truly abide by it, Texas included). So we’re effectively entering a new dawn of re…

  5. Texas vs. Arizona State Game Thread: Late night at the Maui Invitational The Texas Longhorns take on Arizona State in the first round of the 2025 Maui Invitational tonight. And it's late night, as in tip at 10:30pm CT. The winner of Texas vs. Arizona State will move to play the winner of Washington State vs. Chaminade. Should Texas win tonight, they would be heavy favorite to win round two. When looking at the bracket on the other side, either N.C. State or USC will likely come out to play in the final. The game... Texas (4-1) vs. Arizona State (4-1) Arizona State has wins over Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Georgia State and Hawaii. Their loss was …

We mentioned earlier today that Texas would likely be going after Cal tight end Jack Endries but that Endries could be headed to Indiana. Well, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Endries will be visiting Texas. As we’ve been saying, we expect Texas to be strategically aggressive in this portal window. View full news story

  11. Started by Bobby Burton,

Part of me remains in shock this morning, surprised by the QB play we all witnessed Saturday afternoon. I did not see it coming, not this level of struggle. It reached a level of complete ineptness. There were 10 straight incompletions, some that were true misfires, others that were ill-timed, rushed and three or four yards off the mark, one where he didn’t see what should have been his very first read for a first down on a fourth-down play in the red zone and another fourth down play to a wide open Parker Livingston downfield. The performance left me with so many questions Is Sark not helping him out enough with play-calling? Are the offensive l…

  13. Update on OL Laurence Seymore, the most recent commitment to Texas: Spoke to someone close to the situation. Seymore is not expected to join Texas until summertime. He is finishing his undergrad degree this semester at Western Kentucky. Texas has a lot of confidence that he will be granted his waiver. However, the only timetable currently for that is “sometime this spring”. He is expected to visit Texas for the first time at some point in the next couple of weeks. View full news story

  15. SEC Hoops: Texas vs. LSU Game Thread Texas (16-9, 7-5) has won four SEC games in a row, and are now off the NCAA Tournament bubble with the 85-68 win at Missouri Saturday. With a wounded LSU (14-11, 2-10) team in Austin tonight, that means the Longhorns have to continue to take care of business and not stub a toe that could end up costing the costing big come the second weekend in March. There is plenty at stake tonight for Texas, clearly. A win would get the Longhorns to eight SEC wins with five games remaining, making nine wins in conference a near lock barring the unforeseen. A win tonight would also begin to open up real talk possibilities of winning 10 SEC…

  17. Texas hoops: Horns roster, transfer possibilities and recruits to know The NCAA transfer portal is officially open with April 22 the closing date. Sean Miller has yet to be introduced at Texas, but that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of initial decisions made on the Texas roster, potential Xavier players that could follow and high school recruiting. OTF takes a look at the possibilities, with the understanding that players in the portal is WAY too early to begin speculating on. Texas roster and Sean Miller ... Chendall Weaver, G, junior Weaver missed the vast majority of SEC regular season play, playing only ten minutes or more in the opener at T…

Portal Update The NCAA transfer portal officially opens January 2 and players have until January 16 to enter their name. The Texas Longhorns will be extremely active, and have a lot of work to do with needs at RB, OL, LB, secondary, WR, DL and specialists. Jadan Baugh ... Everyone wants to know what Florida running back Jadan Baugh is going to do. Here is the current answer, nobody knows as of last night despite confidence on the colleges that will be in pursuit front. He has not told Florida he has made a decision. Florida is working to bring back a solid offensive group around him. Key question here is can Florida keep both Baugh and Dallas…

  21. Best Class Scenario: July 16 edition The Texas Longhorns are knocking on the door of a fifth straight top 5 ranked class after the commitments of 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson and the flip of 4-star++ defensive lineman James Johnson from Georgia. Steve Sarkisian and staff have the ability to begin the 2025 season ranked inside the top 5 if they win out for one of the nation's top prospects this weekend. This class will not be complete by the start of the season, however. There will be needs remaining at linebacker, offensive tackle, edge and potentially wide receiver and defensive back for sure. That provides Texas with a high ceiling that could could challe…

  22. The University of Texas will have a new baseball coach heading into the SEC for the 2025 season. Head coach David Pierce will not return following eight seasons in charge. Pierce accumulated a record of 297–162 while leading the Longhorns, including three trips to Omaha for the College World Series and regular season Big 12 titles in 2018, 2021 and 2023. In 2024, Texas finished a rollercoaster of a season with a 34–26 record, falling short as the three seed in the College Station regional after squandering a game late against Texas A&M and coming out very flat against Louisiana with the season on the line. With Pierce out of the job, the Longhorns will …

  23. Hoops season is here: No. 19 Texas vs. Ohio State Game Thread The 2024-25 college basketball season is here. Tonight in Las Vegas, the No. 19 ranked Texas Longhorns will take on an Ohio State team considered to be a top 30 level team in the country. Two NCAA Tournament level teams play to start the season. There are two headlines tonight for the season opener. One, it's the deb ut of 5-star freshman shooting guard Tre Johnson. The 6-foot-6 scoring guard scored 31 in a closed door scrimmage against Colorado last weekend. He averaged 22.0 in two closed door scrimmages. Two, the availability of senior transfer Tramon Mark. The 6-foot-5 lefty guard is listed as da…

  24. Spoke with a source who was in attendance at today’s scrimmage for the Longhorns. Here are some notes from that conversation: - Let’s start with the biggest news first. Matthew Caldwell was the 2nd string QB today and looked considerably better than the other two backups, according to the source. - There were some minor injuries today, which included Jelani McDonald’s foot, Trevor Goosby’s hand and Maraad Watson getting a little banged up. - I’m told for the second scrimmage in a row, wide receiver Emmett Moseley was held out. - Safety Jonah Williams was also held out while nursing a hamstring issue. - The offense worked a lot out of…

  25. Started by Bobby Burton,

FYI - could be some movement on the RB coach as soon as today. No promises, but seems it's headed in Juluke's direction.
