V.Tech pulling rev share payments and scholarships for 'redshirts'
So soon-to-be former Hokie players are redshirting prior to making their portal escape? Makes perfect sense! Meanwhile, the athletic department is floundering around trying to enforce NIL deals like a toddler with a crayon. If Va. Tech thinks they’re going to enforce their will on players to escape this mess, they might want to think again. At this point, the only things heading to Virginia Tech are going to be legal bills and courtroom losses.

Next Head Coach in the Swamp
Florida has the money, the brand, and the fanbase—what they don’t have is the right coach. Napier’s clock is ticking loud, and the swamp is ready for its next ringleader. So who’s it gonna be?

“Bye Week: Horns Idle, SEC Heavyweights Clash, Aggies Still Delusional”
Bye week, and I’m already twitching without Texas football. No Arch Manning grimaces to nitpick, no Sark play-calls to roast—just me stuck watching everyone else’s drama. At least there are still some heavyweight games to keep me entertained: Georgia–Alabama in the SEC and Ohio State–Penn State in the Big Ten should both be slugfests. Meanwhile, I’ll laugh at the Aggies doing Aggie things and ignore the OU fans—since they’ve got no game to lose this week, they’ll just be on Twitter convincing themselves Texas is nothing but a media creation—like the press is secretly holding weekly hype meetings in Austin.

Early Firings Aren’t Panic—They’re Positioning
Sure, there will be plenty of suitors lining up for your players, but here's the kicker: during the season teams don’t have roster space to actually take them in. Also there is a bandwidth problem. So this buys you a little time to get your house in order.

Early Firings Aren’t Panic—They’re Positioning
Fully agree, UCLA’s been a “potential” program for 30 years—it’s like they enjoy being a sleeping giant that never wakes up. OSU? That ship’s already sunk. No money, no conference juice, and their whole “develop hidden gems” formula doesn’t work when Tech, OU or A&M can just cut a check and steal them. Gundy was the magic trick, and once he tapped out, Stillwater turned back into a pumpkin. Likewise, Florida’s the soap opera I’m waiting on. They’ve got every tool in the box—money, recruiting, facilities—but somehow Billy’s still convincing people “it just takes time.” The SEC doesn’t give you time. The question isn’t if he gets popped, it’s whether Florida finally acts like Florida and goes big, or drags this circus out another year while Texas, Georgia and Bama keep eating their cornbread.

Napier: DJ Lagway is "100%"
Totally fair point, the pundits are going to twist the Florida game no matter what. If Lagway plays hurt, it’s “Texas beat a QB in a boot.” If he’s out, it’s “Texas beat a backup.” Either way, there won’t be much credit given. But honestly, that’s the price of being a contender—every win gets picked apart until you knock off a true heavyweight. Georgia is the big stage, no doubt. That said, stacking wins is what matters. Keep rolling, handle Florida, beat Oklahoma and the chance to prove it in Athens will be waiting.

Early Firings Aren’t Panic—They’re Positioning
No doubt. Wisconsin didn’t hire Luke Fickell to babysit mediocrity, but that’s what it looks like so far. The leash in Madison isn’t nearly as long as he probably thinks, and before long fans will be wondering if they got the playoff wizard from Cincinnati—or just a guy who sold high and hasn’t done squat since.

Early Firings Aren’t Panic—They’re Positioning
In college football, waiting is losing. UCLA and Oklahoma State proved that this fall when they pulled the trigger midseason, and it wasn’t panic—it was strategy. Fire early and you lock down your roster, open a portal window when rivals aren’t paying attention, and buy months to line up your next hire. You also send a clear message to recruits and boosters that standards still matter. Drag it out, and all you get is uncertainty. The programs that act first stabilize fastest, while the ones that hesitate watch the ground shift under them. In today’s game, early firings aren’t desperation moves—they’re the new playbook.

Napier: DJ Lagway is "100%"
I think there’s a little missing from Napier’s statement—could be coachspeak, could be that he’s not telling the full story on Lagway’s health. Either way, injured or not, Lagway’s profile as a athletic but still inconsistent QB actually works in our favor. Facing him in the Florida game gives Texas a look at the kind of challenges they’ll see the following week with Hawkins at OU. From a preparation standpoint, that first game should be a perfect tune-up for the second. Pray that we can stay healthy.

Arch's career so far at Texas
Patience is key with Arch—he’s not supposed to be perfect right now. There have been some bumps, but the flashes of talent show exactly why the hype is real. He doesn’t need to carry the team on his back yet; he just needs to keep stacking reps, cleaning up the little things, and letting the game slow down. Once that happens, we’re going to see a whole new level from him.

Mateer thumb injury?
So he broke his thumb on his throwing hand and still played 3 quarters? Sounds fishy.
-
Jermaine Bishop - 5 TDs
There are some players who should have the ball in their hands anytime it is possible. J B is one of those types of players.
-
Agree with Todd McShay
It is exactly the of what took place with Quinn. Arch is rushing through making numerous reads way before the receivers are coming open. It is strictly a timing thing!!!!
-
Bobby - Arch injury
Was Arch squinting?
-
USA Today: Arch Manning is just ... average? That's how he looks for Texas
if this is the criteria for average this year then 100% of the teams playing college football have average or below average QBs
