Harsh. Damning with faint praise, but Taaffe ended up being better than Jerrin Thompson and Kitan Crawford. He's also great on special teams (that block against I think Tech was awesome). But he's a walk-on who has overachieved, so everyone is going to hate him.

It's a fine answer, and maybe I'm just irritable today, but I kind of wish any question about "oh noes how are you gonna be ready for the big bad SEC" should be answered with something like "Well we beat the SEC champs in their house last year by double digits. How about you ask the SEC how they are gonna be ready for Texas."

If they're not interested, why meet with him? I think we already have a bunch of dudes on the roster similar or better.

Well we are moving him to RT, so take it up with the coaches I guess? And I'm not saying he's going to win a starting job, just that it's valuable to have a guy with that much experience who can play up and down the line if needed.

I think he's a better tackle than guard. And in a pinch he can play four different positions on the line. He's not one we want to discard.

Personally, and Flood hasn't asked me yet, I like the idea of Conner being the swing tackle and Hutson being the swing guard.

Williams was good, obviously. The other four range from ok to not at all ok.

The number of bodies in the DT room is not the issue. If two of Mitchell, Bledsoe, and Bryant are players then we're more than fine.
