Miller: "The defense is so much a part of the talent you have."

Miller said he's confident in his style of play translating to the SEC regardless of what everybody else in the league is doing.

NIL is part of competing, but you have to a plan on how to get the most out of those resources, Miller said.

Miller said he doesn't have any concerns regarding resources in the NIL space.

Miller said he doesn't want to rush into any decision regarding building out his staff.

Miller said "taking a deep breath and trying to put together the best staff that I can put together."

Miller said the tipping point when deciding to take the job was Texas providing the opportunity to compete for and win national championships.

Miller: "To play a faster brand of basketball gives us an even better opportunity to get that final prize."

When he was asked about what it will take to get over the hump, Miller kept talking about "elite talent."

Sean Miller called this his "final journey" as a coach, which further speaks to his hunger to complete his résumé with the Longhorns.

Miller said he's looking forward to being at Texas where he can knock on the door and eventually knock it down regarding getting over the hump and to the Final Four for the first time in his career.

Miller: "To have a great college basketball program, you have to have a great crowd when you play at home."

Miller's vision of the program involves four things: recruiting (transfer portal, recruiting the best high school players, a great feel for international recruiting and winning within the state), player development, style of play (up-tempo style of play, playing fast and smart, toughness), culture (can you turn it around when your back is against the wall?)

He sounds excited about maximizing the recruiting reach of Texas.

Miller said he's known Tom Penders since he was in the second grade.

Miller said Texas "might be the most talent-rich state in our nation."

Miller said he did his best to reach out to and build relationships with the former players at Xavier and Arizona.

Miller on Texas: "There's no doubt in my mind that when you're the flagship school in the state of Texas, your power is limitless."

Sean Miller's youngest son went to Salpointe Catholic in Tucson with Bijan Robinson.

Miller said he's "a huge college football fan." He's watched the rise of Steve Sarkisian and he's become a fan of watching Texas, especially now that Texas is in the SEC.

Miller on Terry: "I know he's given his heart and soul to this place."

Miller on Rodney Terry: "I have immense respect for him."

Miller: "To be the coach here is quite an honor."

Miller is thanking the Texas brass "for this unbelievable opportunity."

Miller: "You wouldn't want me to be the coach if I didn't have really strong feelings about the place I just left."
