Steve Sarkisian Press Conference + Texas Player Availability (Sept. 1)
Personally I don’t think so. Really like him. I think it’s that they’ve lost recruitments on the big difference makers (DK Moore) and did not reload in the portal this year. I know they like developing HS guys but they have to go get skill guys in the portal each year. Every year they’ve done it, they’ve produced high round draft picks. Stick to that recipe.

Yes. Hard agree.

No offense to Parker Livingston here. But when he’s your WR3 it’s not a good endorsement of the state of the room. They had every opportunity to get guys and chose not to. If the room ends up being poor, it’s on the staff.

Nobody asked about red zone. Awesome. Great job by the media.

And only having 4 receivers ready when you had an entire offseason is on nobody but this staff. From an evaluation and preparation perspective.

Agree. Very bad sign. They needed to get more experience in the portal and made a mistake relying on a bunch of unprovens. I’m pretty convinced of that.

Can someone please ask about red zone? How has nobody asked?

Speed…
I’ve been asking this question. I don’t think there are game changers on this offense. I will wait for it to play out but I don’t believe a trio of Wingo, Moore, and Livingstone is going to be good enough (add Mosley to that if he gets healthy). Always disagreed with the decision to go after guys who had more size and less speed this year. Get why we did it, but personally didn’t like it when there were so many explosive options in the portal. We’ll see how it goes.

Interesting Arch Manning Trend from the Opener (Sunday AM)
I’m going to keep saying this until proven otherwise. I believe the staff took the wrong approach this offseason believing in a bunch of unproven guys. Even Wingo is not proven. Obviously you can’t account for Mosley being hurt, but I’m not sure how explosive he is. It’s a little weird to me how the staff is more so prioritizing size over speed at the position lately. There was Zachariah Branch, Barrion Brown, KC Conception, etc in the portal and all are fairly explosive. We’ll see how it plays out, but I don’t love the weapons on offense.

Is it common for college coaches to seek outside help with executing in the RZ? Is this an ego thing for Sark? I don’t get it.

Thoughts on what happened to No. 1 Texas in a 14-7, season-opening loss to No. 3 Ohio State
Nobody talking about this but I tend to agree. I am not sold on our playmakers on offense. I know it’s early, but our staff is essentially relying on a bunch of unproven guys hitting. I don’t agree with that approach. There were plenty of capable WRs in the portal they could have taken that could thrive in this offense. Wingo needs to prove it. His route running and contested catch ability has been lackluster. Moore is good, but not elite. He is who he is. Everyone else is a question mark. Wisner is a good back, not elite. Baxter will take time. No home run threats there.

No idea. Guessing during the game.

My hot take is I don’t think this team has any real game changers on offense. Baxter looked good but needs time still. Wisner is a good back but is not going to give you a true home run. Waiting for Wingo to live up to the billing. He oozes potential, but I don’t know. The way he runs routes bugs me. Moore is solid but I don’t see him like one of the guys we’ve had in the past (Worthy, Mitchell). Everyone else is unproven to me. Probably not my best take, but I don’t know. I just don’t feel great about the weapons on offense this year.

Thoughts on Arch Manning
Watching more tape, arch’s mechanics looked very off all day. Even on easy throws it looked like he was having to use everything he had on every throw. Just conjecture, but it looked way off all day to me.

Thoughts on Arch Manning
It can be true that both the QB and the coordinator both did not have a good game.

Thanks, meant more so maybe it happened during game? I think one of the OTF peeps (Amanda) said they heard he had a shoulder. Appreciate it.

Anything to the rumor floating that Arch is dealing with a shoulder injury?

Noticed that too. It looked nothing like a normal Sark offense. It was bizarre.

Agree on everything except the last point. With how CFP changed the SOS review this year, this game won’t hurt Texas much. 9-3 and I still think they get in. The plan from Sark was really bad. It’s like he just forgets who he is against top 5 teams. 2-12 record is not good, and indicative that he can’t get over the hump. We will see.

Thank you for calling out Sark. The game plan was really atrocious. The record against top 5 opponents is becoming alarming, too.

Steve Sarkisian Post-Game Press Conference (Ohio State)
If he tries to dismiss RZ woes I will lose it. He needs to be self-aware enough to admit he’s not cutting it there.

It has been long enough I believe to admit that Sark needs help on the RZ calling. The calls were not good today.

It’s time to have a conversation about the receivers.

Final Confidence Rankings of Texas Position Rooms Entering 2025 (10:15 a.m. Thursday)
@CJ Vogel hypothetically is there anything you would’ve liked to have seen differently with the OL to prepare for losing 4 guys? Guessing it is what it is. Hard to replace 4 NFL guys, but curious to get your thoughts.
