Texas basketball 2026-27 season thread
If Bo can make the team...huge. Would make that team a better basketball squad in terms of his bball IQ, shooting, & passing ability.

Injuries derailed his career, but when healthy the guy was pretty darn solid

'Two feet in' with 2026 NBA Draft, Dailyn Swain makes Texas departure official
Interested in seeing where Swain is going to be drafted. He didnt have a horrible combine per say, but he didn't exactly help himself either. Same question marks remain. Looks like he dropped out of participating in day 2 of scrimmaging after only being "okay" day 1 in order to maybe maintain some draft hype. 8pts, 5rebs, 0-0 from three on Day 1. Was steady & solid game 1 but didnt really standout. His 3pt star drill testing didn't really go well, & his measureables were all kinda in the average range. Measured 6-6 1/2 no shoes. I think best case for him, is that he falls a little in the first round & goes to a good team that can develop him over time. What Swain really has going for him is that he still has a ton of room for improvement in his game IMO. However, he's gotta really hunker down on his 3pt mechanics...he's just didnt look real comfortable in that star drill a couple days ago. Inconsistent mechanics on most of his shots. Despite the criticism, still rooting for him. Interested in seeing where he lands & how he pans out. @Gerry Hamilton what do you think post combine?

Texas DB Malik Muhammad signs with Bears
If Malik continues to improve...which he should...the Bears probably have a guy that would've maybe been a 2nd rounder in next years draft. Great pick by the bears

5 for 5 maybe happening
If implemented this coming season, 4th year true seniors will absolutely sue...as they should. This affects true 4th year seniors like Jordan Pope. He'll be in line for a nice NIL payday!

5 to play 5
He's not coming back but $100 says if he wanted to, Texas would find some money

Bucky Ball
Theiretically....If Dylan Swain stays in the draft and doesn't get drafted, he can come back to Texas? Correct? As long as he does hire an agent right? That's pretty much what A&M is testing here the way I see it.

Bucky Ball
Will be an interesting NCAA eligibility decision. Warren entered the NBA draft...thus declaring his intentions to be a pro but went undrafted & has played in the G league 3 years. Doesn't pass the sniff test. Other G leaguers have already played in the NCAA's but none declared for the NBA draft...correct?

Bo Ogden named Mr. Basketball in the state of Texas
His Dad was also named Texas Mr. Basketball. I think that's pretty incredible & awesome!!!

What an azz
Used to work on a horse ranch growing up. We had a donkey named Rudy. They are filthy animals but damn they are personable, friendly, & loyal. Rudy also had a giant schlong.

Opened some Topps Chrome Football today
Went down that expensive rabbit hole. Its just better to buy individual cards of players that you like. Unless you're buying expensive hobby boxes & packs its impossible to make any money off of card collecting. Just an expensive, addictive hobby.

Sean Miller adding to the Infinity Gauntlet
Look like Declan Duru is portaling out as well @Gerry Hamilton Duru may have been just too raw to wait to be developed.

Breaking: Texas lands hoops transfer David Punch
Great pickup. Kinda reminds me of a Gabe Muoneke type player. Not quite the freakish athlete Muoneke was, but a very good athlete, very physical bruiser inside, very good passer. Good IQ. Thick ass legs. Will make Matas & the team better because of his passing ability & high IQ. I wanna see how his defensive game translates to the SEC.

Texas forward Camden Heide will enter the transfer portal
For a guy that can shoot the 3, & jump through the roof, Heide wasn't a great defender.

OTF update: Dailyn Swain (Thursday 6:20pm CT)
Check that...Matt Coleman back in 2021 was last "true PG" we had. Since then, the position has been held down just fine by combo players.

OTF update: Dailyn Swain (Thursday 6:20pm CT)
Correct....we can find guys that can do it all now at the guard position. However that doesn't mean the true set-up PG still doesn't have value...its just a rarity these days. I mean who's the last "true PG" Texas has had worth a damn? Myke Kabongo?? Better to have 5 guys on the court that are real scoring threats.

OTF update: Dailyn Swain (Thursday 6:20pm CT)
True PG or Combo Guard...doesn't matter. We just need someone better & more athletic than Jordan Pope. If Miller proved he could eventually coach up & win big games with a guy like Jordan Pope running the point, then there's no telling how good we could be with a superior talent upgrade.

Dailyn Swain's spot in mock drafts continues to rise
Fair enough. The pre-draft camps will speak volumes for him. If he's nailing some 3's, & playing good D, then he's going rise in stock for sure. His bread & butter is that dribble drive game. He's gotta show more though. I would imagine his camp will compare his potential draft position money vs a healthy NIL payday. I really feel he's the perfect draft candidate to return for his senior year in order to really boost his draft stock in a weaker draft class next year. His rate of improvement was impressive this year...if that continues...then sky's the limit.

Dailyn Swain's spot in mock drafts continues to rise
I didn't say "no chance" but I did say I viewed him more as a 2nd round guy & that I didn't see NBA stud written all over him. I'm sure you're just waiting to beat your chest & prove me wrong. I guess us underlings can't have an opinion & need to kneel to the all knowing Gerry Hamilton. Nothing I saw in the tourney has changed my mind either. I see him as a 1 trick pony right now. Very good dribble drive finisher. Good defensive potential but was inconsistent 1v1 wise late in the season. Improving 3pt shot, but at times plays a little soft & doesn't always make the best decisions with the ball. He had 2 really bad turnovers late vs Purdue. His last bucket was big to tie...but obviously showed some lack of strength vs Purdue's brute on the final play (who clearly fouled Swain IMO). Again, he'll need major seasoning in the G league if he bolts this year. Not sure I see him being a long term NBA guy. So many guys like him out there that are fighting for an NBA roster spot. I'd like to see him coming back 1 more year, rake in more NIL, & get drafted much higher in next years weaker class. But what do I know? I'm just a little piss ant underling. And for the record, your preseason info on Simeon Wilcher was dead wrong.
