I am kinda liking Texas's chances for at least Dayton if they beat OU and No. 12 (which I have assumed would be Arkansas). Of course, I want to see a bunch of L4I and maybe a couple of L4B lose. I was gonna check on No. 12 but the mred site is being updated. Rats.

Men's Basketball: Texas keeps fading NCAA Tournament hopes alive with overtime road win over No. 25 Mississippi State, 87-82
Invariably makes a bad first step and, as you note, is behind the play. Sometimes happens because he goes over screens, which is admirable. Bottom line, his man is open and usually can score.

Ole Miss looks like it's going to push Tennessee here. Brakefield is having a good game, but he just walked on a spinarama to make it 63-61

Not liking the scores I am seeing tonight.

I always treat the seeds as a group. If my team is in this group, who might they play? And I leave it at that. Where they might play, what they'd have to play down the road... that's just a WAG.

Joe usually has the right participants, just not in the right spots. But where he might be wrong is on a team such as Texas, with not a great resume and having to impress at the very end as other teams drop out. They literally have to be the last team standing. Then it would be on to Dayton.

Not in the case of a job like this, in a league like this.

That appears to be correct. Details were obtained by an Iowa TV station. That's one year of his new salary.

Serious inquiries? Nah. But it's more likely that those guys weren't interested while RT was still the coach. Why should they be?

That's the conundrum. Just asking, has CDC found anyone like that?

A lot of the coaches they'll be looking at are going to be around 60. I am not going to automatically eliminate a guy with his NBA record. NBA games are won by finding advantages and pounding on them relentlessly. If a guy can produce at that level, he can X and O. Will he recruit? That is the question. He crumbled at Mizzou and there were rumors. I assume he's good now.

Actually, it seems like it was easy.

How good do you have to be to be more than "nothing special in the pros"?

If I were arguing against Donovan being a candidate, you might have a point, but I didn't argue that. I said that Donovan won't come back, but people still ask for him. Snyder went pro after a rocky finish at MU. If that were the only thing on his resume, I would question that. But, if a successful NBA HC (which QS is) is interested in your college job, you have to give him a serious look, not wishcast about a guy who is not going to be interested.

Don Haskins made UTEP into a pretty good job, and it withstood quite a bit of time, but now is not that time.

How many guys bring up Billy Donovan, like he's going to come back to college when the basketball world knows he hates recruiting and wants to be in the NBA? (Answer: Too many.) Anyone who is thinking about coming back to college, regardless of his situation, after a decade as a HC in the NBA, has experience that most candidates don't.

Isn't that kind of like hiring RT?

RT should have his bags packed..
There is a lot of "Your turn." But Tre is top 25 in KenPom shot rate, along with some other really good players.

RT should have his bags packed..
Has RT "maximized" Tre? Pretty much. Toppin is roughly the same player he was at UNM, but with a lot more shots. If Texas had gotten him, the offense would have been much more effective.

I think Saban resigning set off a tidal wave. It could happen. But again, that would mean that Texas hired one of the most famous coaches in America. Not planning on that.

Jeff seems to believe that Texas will make the money machine go BRRRRRR and affect every other decision in the cycle. We, on the other hand, know better.

No question. Major part of that is being impressed with the league SOS.
