That was part of Charlie Strong’s dilemma as bad as Mack was at recruiting offensive linemen he was just as bad at QB. Brown left Charlie Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard. David Ash was injured. And he had to depend on a freshman the year he was let go. By the time, Herman brought in Sam, we were so hungry for an elite QB that we attached mythical powers to Ehlinger who was 27-16 as a starter and 1-4 against OU. Just a side note, Ewers has not yet been elevated to Sam’s level in the mind of most fans, which is interesting. Another side note, not sure fans are as crazy for Ewers as they were for Charlie Thompson.

Really, now Cobb is not the all time batting average leader? He was at plate over 11,000 times compared to Gibson’s 2,500. Cobb faced better pitching and competition. In 100 years, are we going to include the XFL and Arena Football records in the NFL list? The Historical Black Colleges produced some great NFL talent but no one would dare say that they could beat the Division One teams. The competition was just different in so many ways. I am not saying it wasn’t an injustice what happened but this action is just another feeble feel good moment. It means nothing in the end.
