35 Days Until Kickoff: Only One Today
Ferdynard "Fred" Z. Bednarski, Jr. (12 December 1936 – 23 March 2024) was an American football player who, as a placekicker for the Texas Longhorns, kicked the first "soccer-style" field goal in American football history.[1] He is often credited with introducing the "soccer-style" kick to American football, which revolutionized the element of place-kicking in the sport.[2]

35 Days Until Kickoff: Only One Today
Just watched a special on PBA about Fred Bednarski who was the first ever to kick soccer style field goal in a college football game. The kick was in Fayetteville against the hogs. He was a refugee from Poland and his family came to Texas after the war. He walked on to the Longhorns in 1956 . You should look up the program and watch . It was very inspirational. He was #35 and played for Coach Royal. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

My wife and I had the privilege to sit one row in front of Jack and his wife Nancy for many years at DKR. I looked forward to each home game where I could talk football with Jack. I started going to Longhorn games when Jack was playing. As that picture of him shows, he was the first cover of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. What a gentlemen. I also loved watching Aaron Humphrey play.- ATM New Track Coach - Burrell
You didn’t see my next reply. I watch all OTF podcasts and read most topics. I love the fact that Bobby has all of the other coaches on the podcast. I’ve followed every Longhorn sports for more years than I can remember at my age. I concern myself with the coaches that Texas hires and the athletes that compete there.- ATM New Track Coach - Burrell
I have followed Longhorn sports for probably longer than you’ve been alive. I follow everything concerning Longhorn sports, probably too much as my wife would say. I like all of the different sports that OTF posts about plus their podcast. I just don’t need information concerning the aggies, ou, or any other school not named Texas. 🤘🏻- ATM New Track Coach - Burrell
Why do you care who the aggies hire as their track coach ? I could care less about any news concerning aTm. This is On Texas Football!🏈🤘🏻- Since we missed 76 days out…
Those are all very good picks for #76. I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen all of them play.- College softball portal
Her fielding and her arm are elite. A couple of plays at third really saved the day. Love her speed as well. I expect great things from her as she continues to develop.🤘🏻- 2026 Women's Softball Thread

Let’s go ahead and give everyone a participation trophy 🏆- Is Anthony Pack Jr. the best freshman in the SEC?
Between position player and pitcher, Cozart and Pack Jr. may be the best tandem of freshmen in college baseball.- OTF Collectibles Thread: Show off and discuss your Longhorn autographs, cards and memorabilia
I don’t have any signed jerseys or cards, but I finally found a 1963 National Championship booklet that I got signed by Coach Royal and Duke Carlisle. This was from the 1964 Athens, Texas football banquet where they honored Duke and Coach Royal was the guest speaker. Most of my stuff from the 60’s and 70’s burned in my parents house in the late 70’s, but somehow this survived. The Longhorn’s 1st National Championship and I also attended the Cotton Bowl.- 2026 Women's Softball Thread
Those 2 runs were unearned 🤘🏻. Nice outing by Brenlee .- RIP Chris Gilbert?
Who ever this guy with the beard is, doesn’t know a thing about what he’s talking about. He said that Gilbert was a fullback and looked like one. Wondered why he only played 3 years. In those days, there were freshman teams. You didn’t get to play varsity until your sophomore year. Gilbert was lean and fast, not the fullback he mentioned. I couldn’t even listen to the rest of what he said because he was so wrong in his first statements.- RIP Chris Gilbert?
One of my earlier Longhorn Heroes. I was able to see him play multiple games during his career. Got to meet him at an East Texas Longhorn event at the Petroleum Club in Tyler. 🤘🏻- New Year New Numbers
