My guess is the coaches felt the team’s floor/ceiling wasn’t going to change materially with Nico playing QB. No one in Knoxville will be very understanding with 7-5.

I think the Big East schools with have a big opportunity with the new salary structure. Most of them have marginal football programs and and spend way more on basketball.
