I think leaving a rabid fan base that cares about basketball and fully supports it is the biggest issue. Why come to a place and start over? He already has what he wants.

Otzelberger signed an extension in December that puts him there until 2030 something. And then it becomes, why do I leave a rabid fan base and a top five team to come to a football school? Iowa State will match any offer. Donovan is too old, unless Texas is looking for say a five year coach. I like McCollum a lot but if CDC makes a move he needs to get it right.

He was the only other person interviewed when Beard was hired. However, players returning to coach college basketball and failing & no ties to recruiting the state are always brought up with him.

Him doing that was a sign of what was coming. Having another team reject him was probably what sent him spiraling quicker. It’s about him as a person. People around him need to care about him. Who is he if he isn’t a football player? He is no longer wanted by football. Somebody needs to help him realize his life matters. Football should have nothing to do with it.

And nobody in jail gives a damn about his football skills. He’s a number now, caught up in a system.

I said this when everyone was making fun of him for another team dropping him, and sending him back in to the portal. He needs people around him that actually care about him. He needs people around him that see him, not the football player. He matters, not what he can do on a field.

Barnes was asked to get an assistant to help with offense and he refused. The team was on a downward spiral for seven years. After that last tournament loss, during which Turner most of the second half, he finally admitted Texas couldn’t shoot the ball. He said to Craig Way after years of denying it. His answer to that was Kerwin Roach and another guy, who both couldn’t shoot the ball with any consistency. Roach was suspended once his sophomore year and twice his senior year. It was time to move on.

Two million for that. Texas reached out first for Storr. At first he wanted to go through the NBA process. After he got paid he pulled out completely. Coach Self called him out a month ago.
