Not having seen Aggie play, you two have given me a roadmap for this game. Thanks.

re: Weaver. I think Weaver adds more than energy, rebounding, and defense. I think he is a better distributor than anyone but Larry, plus he is less prone to over dribbling than any of the other guards. The ball does not get stuck with him. So the team moves better when he is on the court. Or so I think from my observations.

Hoops: Texas vs. No. 22 Missouri Game Thread
Was with my twin granddaughters last night so I missed the game. I enjoyed reading through this thread. Thanks, of course, to Jordan and Bierce and BobInHouston, but also to some posters I have not seen here before who called plays made and missed, rather than flood the site with gratuitous insults. I hope Weaver is back, soon. I probably will get to watch the Aggie game.

Hoops: Texas at No. 5 Florida Game Thread
When Beard was fired, I thought Royal Ivey was a serious candidate. I know he has never been a head coach and his coaching experience has been in the NBA, but KD and Ford really liked him. If CDC rolled the dice with a young but knowledgeable and personable coach [Ivey, arguendo] and he had NIL support, I think it would go better than the Shaka journey. A crap shoot? Sure. Could be a big payoff, though.

This was well written and mirrors most of my own views, even as to the timing of losing trust in Rick. I add these thoughts: I did not enjoy watching Shaka's teams play almost nightly, and I attended as many as ten games a season during those years. He never instituted the Havoc associated with his coaching style previously. Many here do not realize what was apparent from watching live - that RT allowing his inherited team to run made them better than they were under Beard. RT has had to be in building mode as Beard's once unique reliance on transfers is no longer singular. Everyone does it. I want Texas to win every game. I will want to replace RT when an opportunity comes along for a promising young coach - who doesn't turn out to be Shaka. That experience should be a lesson in the vagaries of coach picking. Meanwhile, we have a coach who is a winner when his players actually play together, which they show some signs of doing. His teams seem to like him and his staff can recruit well, given a bit of NIL support. And I do get the sense that some want Texas to lose games so that RT will be forced out. When he took last year's team to the second round with no NBA prospects on the squad he was still skewered. That is what I find discouraging on these boards.

I agree with Bierce. And I do not put this shooting stretch on the coach.
