Texas Adds New Mexico State To 2027 Schedule

The Longhorns have added New Mexico State to their 2027 football schedule. Texas will play the NMSU Aggies on September 4th, 2027 and it will be the season opener for both schools. 

Through a public records request, FBSSchedules.com was able to confirm the game and also confirmed that Texas will pay New Mexico State 1.6 million for the matchup. 

The Longhorns last played NMSU in 2013, where they won 56-7. 

Texas will also host both Michigan and UTEP in the following weeks.

    Despite the score in 2013, the NMxSt DL stifled the Texas OL in that game.  Texas' greatly superior skill speed still overwhelmed the Las Cruces Aggies.  

    Thus, one could have watched that blowout and yet become very anxious about the remainder of the season.

    The NMxSt DL will not stifle the Texas OL in 2027.

    Sam Houston State played their first full FBS schedule last year. In Conference USA. It’s why Texas added them. Wouldn’t have done it if they were FCS.

    They're going to be complaining for a lonnnnnng time. Remember, A&M has never scheduled a Big 12 team in football.
