    Barring something major - like the immediate unexpected exodus of a couple of linemen from Michigan - Texas is officially done with portal recruiting for the spring semester. In review, the Horns grabbed eight players who expect to contribute immediately, six of them heavily.     Following the massive junior day in Austin a week ago, it is worth taking a look at what the Longhorns will be competing against. Texas A&M hosted a talented group of prospects this weekend for a smaller, intimate junior day of their own. A good number of those prospects were in Austin last week and will be competitive recruitments moving forward.     Jabbar Muhammad has committed to Oregon. The second team All-PAC 12 cornerback while at Washington this season chose the Ducks over Texas and Alabama earlier today. After entering the transfer portal, Muhammad visited Texas 10 days ago. A day later, he visited Alabama. Of note, the Horns did not promise Muhammad a starting role. The Horns return two starters in Terrance Brooks and Manny Muhammad.

    Texas assistant special teams coach Joe DeCamillis is moving on. The long-time NFL assistant who served a support role for the Longhorns last year, DeCamillis accepted a full-time staff role at South Carolina, according to published reports. DeCamillis helped special teams coordinator Jeff Banks architect one of the best special teams units the Longhorns have produced in decades.
