We are down to 16 days before the Longhorns open the season against Ohio State.

Who is your favorite Texas player to wear No. 16?

A lot of options today to choose from and here are a few of those:

Arch Manning

Michael Taaffe

For me, Number 16 will ALWAYS be the undefeated James Street.

When 16 is playing QB, we always win.  I hope I can still say that in February of 2026.

Taafe honestly might be my fav with his story from walk on to all american, love of the university, his class and professionalism, and everything he does to support in our community

Things like wearing the tie to honor the deceased camp mystic campers, just so dang cool

James "Slick" Street 16.  20-0 as starting QB for the Horns.

Here's hoping that Arch can top that!

In my defense I made this thread right before going to sleep and I was beat. I just didn’t post it until 445 this morning.

And, for what it’s worth, I don’t list all the options. Just a few to get discussion going.

ill defer to Charlie strong on this one…

The cake has been baked. The only thing left to do is put the icing on it and slice it.

I let you guys do the slicing 😉

…But I can’t believe I forgot Street.

Street easily

Thomas was an imo underrated piece of 2005.   He was huge against Sarks Trojans.

Loved me some Gunn as a kid.

There are some good 16s over the years and some have special stories, but James Street is a Longhorn Legend in both football and baseball, holding school records in each, and is my pick.

One of the first knocks on Arch was he didn't play against the stiffest competition. Well... he didn't actually play with the best talent either. When your tight end is bigger than your tackles and guards, they're going to get beat and you still have to make something happen. Watch tape of Quinn at SLC, he was never under duress and because so he developed lazy habits and bad mechanics. The same can't be said of Arch, go back and watch Arch's first touchdown throw at Texas. It was at that moment I said, yeah he has "it".
