Texas is on the practice field Thursday morning and shortly after, the local media will be meeting with a handful of players.

No word yet on who will be joining us, but as always, notes and quotes in the comments below.

RG DJ Campbell speaking today. 

Campbell says Brandon Baker has relentless effort and he reminds him of Kelvin Banks because he is a “technique freak.”

 

DJ Campbell he’s tried to take on the leadership role within the offensive line, along with Cole Hutson and Trevor Goosby.

“I left food on my plate (last year).” Campbell says it is now or never for his time at Texas. 

Campbell says he doesn’t see much difference between Cole Hutson and Jake Majors at the center position. 

Nick Brooks has a lot of talent, says Campbell. Someone that can get on the field early. 

“It’s the first stop on the revenge tour.”

When asked about people on the outside expecting a drop-off with the offensive line, Campbell said the line isn’t concerned with what’s said about them.

He’s not expecting a drop-off this season. 

Tre Wisner is up next.

Tre Wisner is up. 

Says DJ Campbell is the guy they rely on to get the juice going and calls him the “nastiest” lineman. 

 

Wisner says the staff tells the team all the time that if “you are not a franchise player, you are going to be on special teams.”

Says he wants to make the league any way possible. Whether it be running back or special teams, he is open to everything to help the team. 

 

Wisner said he changed his eating habits to help him on the right kind of weight in the offseason.

”Eat like a champion,” is how he described his new eating habits. 

Wisner says Rickey Stewart has some freshman Wisner in him already. “He’s faster than me!”

NFL scouts from the Commanders, Broncos, Jaguars and Vikings were at Texas practice today. 

Arch looks like a “mad man” says Wisner. 
 

He hs definitely stepped up and has tapped into every other position group this fall camp. 

 

“It’s just a watch list at the end of the day,” Wisner said about being on the Doak Walker Award watch list. “Nothing is etched in stone.”

Wisner said “it’s going to be crazy” when he and Baxter start attacking defenses as a 1-2 punch in the backfield.

Liona Lefau says “Wisner can talk (smack) but it brings the defense the juice”

Says it brings another level of competitiveness to the defense and those head to head practice periods. 

Lefau says Trey Moore has adopted the playbook very well at linebacker. Says he has put in a ton of work off the practice field to get to where he needs to be before the season begins.
