This isn’t accurate at all. Please do not forget that Larry Johnson is an elite DL coach, a better DL coach than Knowles is a DC, and Knowles is a damn good DC. The reason Knowles left is because  Penn State offered him $3M/year, which Ohio State was never going to match that, nor should they have.

Also, Larry Johnson expands the DL rotation based on how many guys he has that has earned playing team. If there are only one or two backups that are ready to play at a high level, there won’t be much rotation. Historically LJ prefers to rotate often, which early in his tenure made Buckeye fans mad because we didn’t want Joey Bosa or Chase Young, etc taken off the field. 

Ryan Day’s press conference is today at 11:30am EST. Many believe he will announce QB1 at that time. Julian Sayin is still believed to be the overwhelming favorite.

As an Ohio State fan it makes me happy that he gets two full weeks of all of the QB1 reps before facing Texas.

I would say that that goes against everything I have read about Sayin this off season. I’m not saying it isn’t true, but that is definitely not Sayin’s reputation.

Considering various Ohio State offensive linemen stepped up down the stretch for the Buckeyes last season and many of them return for 2025, there’s no shortage of confidence in OSU’s stalwarts up front.

Austin Siereveld’s hype meter is off the charts, considering his Iron Buckeye honors and being named the unquestioned starter at left tackle. Carson Hinzman is a proven commodity at center. Luke Montgomery played well at guard in the final two postseason games in 2024 and should handle the left side this year. Some think it will help, while others find it worrisome they felt the need to add him at the last second to help with defense.

Tailoring your defense to combat your opponents strengths each week (Matt Patricia, Belichick way) might be a little easier to teach to seasoned pros who’s livelihood depends on there time in film rooms and understanding of defensive and offensive schemes.  College kids will have a harder time executing this week in and week out.  If you’ve ever coached kids before, even young kids (especially young kids that is) you know what you want to do, and what you can do might be 2 different things.

What Ohio State fans might not know is the Texas O line, although bringing in 4 new starters, have played a lot of football as well.  They have some starts over the years and been seasoning under Kyle Floods development.  I will say it is an unknown how it will go for sure with some minor injuries sustained in camp, but if healthy, they should be ready to go.  Also, Arch Manning should have a better pocket presence than displayed last year by Quinn.  He is a freshman, but his legs and awareness of pressure are superior to what you saw last year.

Kyle Flood definitely has the reputation as being one of the best OL coaches in the game.

As an Ohio State fan there are only two things that concern me, in terms of if the offense will be among the elite again -

1. Julian Sayin
2. Brian Hartline calling plays

Both aren’t liabilities, just question marks.

I have no concerns in regards to the WR, TE, OL, or RB rooms.

I saw James Peoples play at SA Vets Memorial and he was shifty power back who was hard to take down, hopefully Hill and Moore can take him down

Just curious why isn’t OSU concerned at all about their o line? Is this graphic not accurate?

Obviously he has to go out and earn it on the field, but a lot of people in the program believe he is JK Dobbins 2.0.

I already contacted hospital staff and they assured me all TV’s will be on the Ohio State game.
