Texas Football standouts Arch Manning and Quintrevion Wisner have been named to the preseason watch list for the 89th Maxwell Award, given annually to the College Player of the Year.

Manning, a redshirt sophomore quarterback, impressed in 2024 with a 2-0 record as a starter, nearly 1,000 passing yards, and nine touchdowns.

Wisner, a junior running back, rushed for over 1,000 yards and added 411 receiving yards en route to All-SEC honors.

It's the first Maxwell Award watch list selection for both players, positioning them among college football's top talents heading into the 2025 season.

 

I feel most sites underrate (not underappreciate) Wisner.

The SEC leading rusher wasn't supposed to start and wasn't ready with the requisite body armor.

Imagine how good he's going to be with it.  

I think he's our starter and stays our starter (with many more relief pitchers ready to spell him)

While I agree that Wisner is under rated, unless he proves himself in the power game inside I dont see him as an undisputed starter.  Caveat that the offensive line has to pull their weighr here as well.  I do believe that Archs ability to run may loosen up the inside just a bit.
