University of Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian has been selected as a candidate for the 2025 Dodd Trophy watch list.

The award highlights a coach who not only achieves competitive success but also upholds academic commitment, moral character, and strong leadership—principles rooted in the legacy of Bobby Dodd.

Sarkisian is one of 26 coaches to be spotlighted in this year’s preseason group. He was also acknowledged during the 2024 season, appearing on both the preseason and midseason lists.

In 2024, Sarkisian was a finalist for the Bear Bryant and George Munger coaching awards for the second year in a row.  This latest recognition underscores Sarkisian’s ability to balance elite performance with a deeper focus on mentorship and academic integrity.

 

 

With our rising GPA (higher than my Texas GPA for sure!) and "clean" program that is performing at a consistently high pace and widely admired, you think he'd have to be on any short list of this kind.
Regardless of expectations of him as a coach coming in, not sure anyone could have anticipated he's run "the whole show." No one else I'd rather have than Sark right now across all those categories.
