The Mavericks and the Spurs are making picks that could change the course of their franchises. The Rockets are making headlines by trading for Kevin Durant. Tre Johnson will go in the lottery.

It should be a special night for professional basketball in the state of Texas.

The draft starts at 7 p.m. on ABC and ESPN.

FIRST ROUND PICKS TO FOLLOW

1. MAVERICKS — Cooper Flagg, F, Duke

2. SPURS — Dylan Harper, G, Rutgers

6. WIZARDS — TRE JOHNSON, G, TEXAS

10. ROCKETS (will be sent to the Suns in the Durant trade)

14. SPURS — Carter Bryant, W, Arizona

I couldn't believe this when I looked it up, but the Timberwolves own the Pistons' pick (No. 17) from a draft-day trade in 2020. The Pistons took Isaiah Stewart with that second first-rounder.

Spurs have the no. 2 pick btw

I was reading some smoke(?) that the Sixers might be targeting Tre Johnson at No. 3, which is probably why I mindlessly typed that. Good looking out, ElCafetero!

I respect him for not only bowing up to LeBron, but actively trying to throw hands with the face of the league. Every good team needs one of those guys who doesn't mind throwing down.

Stew and Ron Holland will throw hands with anyone.

Some talk at the Spurs SBN blog [Pounding the Rock] that Harper would be redundant, because he is much like Castle and Fox.

To me, Indy's run featured depth, especially at Guard and Wing, that says Castle, Fox, and Harper would be a feature, not a glitch.

San Antonio at 14 could take a BIG if they can get someone who spaces the floor well or who alternatively is a banger underneath, since Wemby can play in space.
