Couple of afternoon recruiting notes

Wanted to pass along a couple of afternoon recruiting notes.

Confidence around Texas remains with 4-star+ EDGE Dre Quinn and 4-star+ DL Vodney Cleveland.

Texas is also doing pretty well with 4-star+ DL/EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright. But the Texas A&M visit looms. Clemson also in it.

OTF doesn’t have as much confidence with 4-star++ WR Jalen Lott. Texas had a solid visit, but we believe there is still ground to be made up. USC is strong. Oregon takes their mighty swing this weekend.

Those two at DT would be a very solid combo with Berymon and Wells for sure

Chris Jackson did a great job with the visit.

See what happens. A&M is trying to win the head-to-head's vs. Texas in 2026. Up to Texas to not allow it to happen.

thought this summer would be different with recruiting. unfortunately not. hoping for a big close again, even though that feels unrealistic to do every cycle.

Sucks about James Lott.  What about Jalen?

ok now being serious, losing a legacy to the biggest fraud coach in football would be a bad look.

Sark and co need to adapt just like they have every year. We have giant nil offers to contend with now. Not sure why it is necessary to say that its relationships with Chad Scott or whatever.  Kj Edwards doesn’t cancel his ov without incentive.
Jalen Lott would be coached in an elite offense with an elite qb at Texas. there is no reason Texas should lose to USC with this legacy recruitment. USC is just throwing money at the elite kids and it’s producing commitments. Texas is doing great with some rooms but not well at others.  They’ll end up with a great class I’m sure.

Wow on Lott

Some kids want their own legacy…

@Gerry Hamiltondoing well can also mean not hitting a high enough NIL offer, correct? I would imagine Texas wants to find kids that will give them the discount for the success they're offering in the Draft and with culture. I can understand where that loses some early but wins later in the year.

Yep these schools are throwing haymakers in June.  Texas throws their haymakers in November and December.  It's like watching a boxing match.

Strategy may need to be adjusted moving forward though due to being able to sign immediately with the rev share and locking in.

@Gerry Hamilton is NIL the biggest factor regarding Lott?

$$$$ is the number 1 factor in recruiting now.  There are exceptions but most will take the extra money assuming it’s significant to the recruit / family.

Cleveland and Guervil would be awesome. Quinn, Carlton, and Wright would nice at edge.

A&M will throw Wright a bag and get him.

Does losing out on Lott mean we push for other WRs more? Like Keys, Burroughs or Mack?

Not unless Texas is willing to offer a large bag.
