Would he be able to get them back out of the portal?  What I really meant was were they all going to Miss. State or was there a chance they were going somewhere else, such as Texas.

I could only imagine how frustrating a year it was for Farmer.

Farmer deserves a lot of credit for the work he put in to get himself into the mix as a starter following the coaching change. When it comes to his replacement, however, I think Texas needs a corner outfielder who can either get on base more frequently (a .371 OBP with 25 walks and 10 HBP against 65 strikeouts) or provide more pop (44 total hits with 13 doubles and one home run, good for a .339 slugging percentage).

We'll see. I think the focus is on bringing in pieces rather than 1-for-1 replacements. Losing Belyeu, Galvan, Flores and Schuessler is a lot to replace in one offseason, even with access to the portal. Depth was one of Schloss' biggest concerns throughout the season, so I'm expecting a lot of roster turnover.

Farmer leaving isn't surprising I expect the staff to look for upgrades. All great guys but they aren't good enough to make it to Omaha at least with the time they have left. If pierce would have developed them better previously I think it may have been differently.

Borba to first, new guy to 3rd potentially because Borba isn't a good 3rd baseman. Flores is addition by subtraction as he was so bad hitting and defensively.

ok, Flores is not addition by subtraction - I'm sorry but you didn't watch him the last few years if that's your takeaway. He had slumps and tough moments but he was a solid hitter (top 10 in school history for HRs) and if you're saying he was bad defensively after giving us countless web gems at SS, idk what to tell you

How was he this season? Awful. Good he hit some home runs but he was trash in conference hitting .176 BA. Sorry not sorry but he wasn't good.

 

.239 BA - 11th on team
.808 OPS - 8th on team
.317 OB% - 13th on team
4th on team in strike outs

Tied for team lead in errors 
Above average in terms of fielding percentage.

Schloss said on the Zone this morning that he would like to have Galvan and Flores.  Man Galvan would be great, but I’d like to get better at SS.

He was only good in 2024, he's been average at best 2/3 seasons and that's putting it politely.

Borba ended up finishing the year at .951 and 5 errors on 27 PO.

He wasn't a good hitter though. I dont think our defense is why people want these guys replaced. I personally dont want borba as a set starter rather go get a hitter if possible that can take his spot or at least compete for it. You cant have these mid hitters on the lineup when other sec teams have both good hitters and good defenders

Sounds like Schloss wants to overturn the roster

Freshman Carson Luna and sophomore catcher Oliver Service have entered the portal. 3 so far today.
