Ryan Watts released from Steelers and it sounds like retiring from football

Featured Replies

Apparently a neck injury in last season's last preseason game that required surgery. Sad to see after all that work. Hope his transition out of playing goes well.

Man, that is unfortunate.

I bumped into Watts in Georgia for the SEC Championship, where he said he was headed to New York for an additional option on his neck. At that point I believe it was option three or four. He always remained hopeful he would get back on the field, but this is really upsetting to see.

Man what’s with the Steelers and early retirements for neck injuries? Wish Ryan all the best and with his work ethic he will find success

Good luck to the young man.  Setbacks do not have to be the end.  I have made what the doctors term a "miracle recovery" from a massive stroke in Nov of 2021.  I was told that I would never walk, work, or drive again.  Hell, I couldn't even EAT.

I do all those things now and at a high level.  It takes EFFORT...just be willing to go the extra mile...and prayer.

The Longhorn Nation is praying for his full recovery!

God bless him.

A great young man who represented the burnt orange the right way. I wish him the best of luck moving forward.

Retire from football youngman. Health is the most important thing. This is where the network of Longhorn alumni kick in and help him in the next phase. He made a great 40 year decision. Good luck Ryan 🤘
