He’s definitely not pitching this weekend but they will have to do more tests to know if he’ll be available after this weekend.

Make Grubbs the state, he’s gone long recently. You may have to stretch Volantis out for him to go 5-6 innings 

Generally when they start talking about additional testing with pitchers it’s not a good sign.  

Not the best news on Spencer, but also the only hope that it's minor.

Not necessarily at all. Setback? Yes. Ruined. No.

 

My personal recollection is that pitching sidearm to 3/4 was way easier on my arm than pitching straight overhand.  In high school I sensed that it was easier on my shoulder as my whole body pivoted in the nearly exact plane as the arm motion.  But I have read that the overhand thrown slider is the toughest pitch on the elbow. I don't have a muscle memory to go with that, but I accept it - science!

We did not have actual medical knowledge of any of this in 1960, btw.

Be honest pitching is what you need to win a natty and losing your ace is likely a major blow.

Could be. Emergence of Jonah could help offset it. If Belyeu returns close to what he was, still have even better chance. 

Spencer won’t pitch this weekend. I have been told it was precautionary and Spencer himself believes to be fine in the short term. 

They’re going to be overly cautious. Schloss and Max Weiner won’t push Spencer if there’s a shred of doubt regarding his health.

 

Schloss on not wanting to extend Ruger Riojas on Saturday and what impact Spencer’s health had on the pitching plan: “We won’t know what’s going on with Jared for a while. I can’t envision him pitching next weekend. We wanted to have options for Friday and Saturday and since we have a little bit extra time, we can make those choices.”

Schloss on Spencer’s recovery: ”He’s going through all the testing, trying to get different opinions on what’s going on with him.”

Texas is a lock for a top 8 seed. Get Spencer back for the tournament is all we need

This is what coaches say when they’re in denial about their pitcher needing TJ surgery.

Jared not knowing what is occurring with his left arm does not bode well.

I think I read Ace Whitehead pitched a simulated game??  Could he be back for the regionals?

Either way it's still not good. We absolutely need him back for a regional and even then will be near 100%
