Was told about 20 minutes ago that Texas is expected to see a basketball all together NIL increase into the 4.8-5 million range for next season. 

This season's roster was 3.7-3.8 million.

That increase would place Texas in the top 15 range nationally based on numbers currently. 

 

That should make a difference if the next staff uses it wisely.

Is that top 15 based on 2024-25 outlays or estimated 2025-26 outlays, because something tells me that we won't be the only school upping our NIL for basketball by a 20-25%.

Basketball isn’t getting much from the house settlement. I’m assuming that number will be the total.

Not on top of, no. Total range expected

Doesn’t seem ideal if that’s total including revenue sharing. That’s only 1-1.5 million extra according to what most teams plans to allocate to revenue sharing for men’s basketball. Good luck with that I guess especially if top programs and teams add more than that on top 

Winning can increase NIL but that’s a good start.

I will say that it appears Texas wants to be good but not great in hoops. I’m a little surprised but not disappointed. It seems as though, Texas is clearly showing football and baseball are higher priorities.

It's going to be 2-2.2 mill more. 

Nate Oats was recently told his rev share was going to be 2-2.2 mill ... he lost his shizznit from what two other college coaches told me. Bama will make it up in a similar fashion.

Tech is on record of saying their revenue share will be 3.5 million. A few other programs been in that ball park. UCONN is estimating 5 million from revenue sharing(not including NIL)

Of course UConn will try ... they won't compete in football with their rev share #'s. 

And BTW, a lot of the numbers are inflated.

Those numbers are directly from Texas techs athletic director.

Honestly, this number is fine.  Pretty much in line with the Miller hire which was…. fine.

Not surprised at all. 

Texas being in the top 15-20 in basketball NIL is pretty good and about what I would expect personally. This is a football school first and always will be. We also happen to have the best baseball program of all time, so it’s hard to make an argument basketball should be top 5 in the country or anything. 
 

There are ~350 college basketball programs. Top 15-20 should allow us to be competitive in the SEC.

I have a feeling if our former coach was given the funds to go get JT Toppin we wouldn’t have had to suffer through the Jayson Kent experience.
