Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day are on the podium for the final time ahead of the Texas-Ohio State meeting in the College Football Semifinal.

The game will kickoff Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Sarkisian was the 1997 MVP of the Cotton Bowl when he was the QB at BYU.

Sarkisian in his opening statement: "To think teams go unblemished is probably not realistic, especially in our two conferences"

 

Sarkisian says the reason why Ohio State has the fewest offensive snaps amongst the CFP finalists is because they score so fast.

Sark adds the 12-team playoff, it is not about who has played the best ball all season, but at the current moment. Sarkisian gives credit to Ohio State and the staff.

Sark: If you poll the room, Ohio State would be the favorite in the game. But that is why you have to go out there and play the game and prove who is worthy of moving on.

Ryan Day says nothing that has happened previously will matter in regards to what happens on Friday.

Says, just look back a week or two ago... I believe he referred to Michigan game.

Sarkisian on Jay Hartzell's departure from Texas: He took a chance, and took a risk on me as an assistant coach at the time. The support that he gave, not only as a football program, but the entire athletic department,  i think Chris Del Conte would echo the same sentiment."

Adds he did a tremendous job in the four years that he has been at Texas.

Sarkisian on being the playcaller this deep into the season while being the head coach and ultimate decision maker: Says the continuity between the staff he brought from Alabama has helped tremendously. 

Mentions he had a lot of success doing what he did as a playcaller at Alabama and believes he was hired to do just that. Play calls.

Steve Sarkisian says being the offensive play caller is something he loves to do:

"As long as I am decent at it, it is something I will probably continue to do."

Sarkisian says that none of the final four teams played an FCS team this year.

 

Ryan Day on the 12-team CFP format: "You're allowed a loss or two throughout the season to learn and grow and to build as a team. In the past, if you were to lose a game, your whole season's ruined"

Day: I think the CFP is good for college football, now it is about making it better.

 

Sarkisian on being an underdog: "We don't talk that way. It's a clean slate. The reality of it is, you don't get any points if you're an underdog. You don't get to say hey, we lost by five. You win. It doesn't work like that in our world. You have to win, either you win or lose the game."

Sarkisian on Ewers: "At the end of the day, he has always stayed true to who he is. The guy has been really -- he's been a steady sea for us."

Sark points to the length of the NFL Season as one of his big takeaways from his time in the league. Says that's one of the biggest carry overs to now with the current state of college football.
