Both Ryan Day and Steve Sarkisian are set to speak with the media for roughly 20 minutes today.  
Day will speak first at 11:00 am and then Sarkisian will follow up at noon.

Ryan Day says he has a tremendous amount of respect for Texas, Sarkisian and the Longhorn players. 

After giving up playcalling duties, Day says it has allowed him to get more involved with football activities as the head coach. 

Says he’s been able to be with the team more and look at things from a wider lens. 

“I have a great amount of respect for Sarkisian and the way he calls games.” - Day

 

Says he knows Texas wants to be balanced and find success in the run game. Shoutout to the Texas OL as well from Day.

Ryan Day says there’s been an added emphasis on starting quickly on offense in the CFP. Says they have taken the ball first in both games and done well executing the gameplan to finding points early on. 

“There are a lot of things we are going to need to do better to beat Texas.” Says Day. 

Ryan Day mentions the Ohio State winning a national title ten years ago at AT&T Stadium, as well as Will Howard winning a Big 12 Championship at AT&T as well. 

“He was one of the first 8th graders I ever offered.”

Ryan Day says Ewers had an incredible release. 

Says Ewers showing up in the middle of camp was a bit strange.

Steve Sarkisian speaking now.

Sarkisian: Credits the tOSU coaching staff for their fast starts in all three phases. Says the staff is calling it aggressively but the players are playing with confidence and executing well.

Steve Sarkisian: "I think we are going to be healthy and good to go by the time the game comes around."

Sark was asked if he thinks he will have to lean into the pass more. "Man, I hope not."

Sarkisian credits ASU's LBs and DBs for tackling well in space and not allowing Texas to get loose in the 2nd level. 

"I am hard pressed to walk away and abandon (the run game)."

Sarkisian says it is all about timing and disruption at the LOS and backend to slow down Will Howard.

 

Sarkisian says he thinks this CFP run has been very fun. From SECCG in Atlanta to playing back at home against Clemson and then going back to Atlanta, Sarkisian says it has been a cool opportunity over the last month.

 

Sarkisian calls Caleb Downs an all-around player. Someone that makes it very difficult to scheme against.

"We didn't come this far just to come this far... the journey is not done, the mission is not complete." – Sarkisian

Sark points to Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith as two lengthy, big time players that have impacts on the game in passing game.

Sarkisian says ASU was very good on first and second downs defensively. Mentions ASU won several one on ones early on and it hurt the Longhorns.

Sark is snippy today as well. He was asked how to prevent Jeremiah Smith from taking over the football game offensively for tOSU – "I just hope we are good enough to guard him, i guess we will find out."
