Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is on the podium for his Monday press conference ahead of the Lone Star Showdown.

Sarkisian says a few things from Saturday that stood out was the complementary football Texas played.

Texas fumbled in their own territory twice and it resulted in 0 points, missed FG and a fourth down stop.

Sark points to five players accounting for 12 sacks in the last two games.

"Gunnar Helm continues to play very well for us offensively."

Texas was 4/5 scoring TD in the red zone against Kentucky, who was the No. 1 redzone D in the conference coming into the game.

Steve Sarkisian says Texas A&M has an "elite, premier" defensive line which is the strength of the Aggie team.

Sarkisian on QB Quinn Ewers: "I think he is doing okay."

 

Ewers is expected to be on the practice field this afternoon for Texas where the staff will get a better understanding of his health.

I DO NOT LIKE HEARING THAT - I think Sark would be more enthusiastic if he was feeling good. 

It sounds like he's downplaying the rivalry aspect of the game. I hope someone has told him not to stay in college station Friday night or eat anywhere without bringing our own people/food. 

Sarkisian points to the final 8:00 drive vs. Arkansas and the 15-play drive against Kentucky as really impressive moments for the Texas OL.

Says it was a big confidence boost.

"We all know Kyle Field is a really loud stadium, they have a good fanbase."

 

Sarkisian points to the "We not me." mentality of the team which has helped elevate the play of the entire team. Says the end of season awards are a byproduct of the team success.

Sark says there won;'t be much change to the schedule this week for the team except for maybe sleeping in a bit more.

Sarkisian says he wants to reenergize their batteries a bit. No school and Thanksgiving week of course.

Sarkisian says the team plays for one another and is wanting to promote one another.

Points to the Barryn Sorrell/Collin Simmons celebration, the Jahdae shirts rocked by Taaffe and Mukuba and more. Says its really cool.

Sark says it didn't take long to realize the passion for the rivalry between A&M after he took the job.

Says there was a funny story he had that he won't share.

Sarkisian: "I didn't say in my opening press conference we came here to win 10 games."

Sarkisian says it is cool to have back to back ten win seasons, but the goal is to win more than just ten games a year.

Not a great feel about Ewers. And we know Sark will stick with him to the end. He should have rested him in the 2nd half Saturday.

He didn’t downplay the rivalry.

We'll have to disagree. He only talked about the game inside the stadium. Hopefully he understands that the game starts when the team arrives in CS. These folks are nutjobs and have 13 years of pent-up shenanigans to unload.

There is no way Sark doesn’t understand the rivalry. CDC wouldn’t allow it.
