Myron Charles Note

The Florida Gators are making a major run at 4-star++ defensive lineman and Texas commitment Myron Charles (Port Charlotte, Fla./High).

OnTexasFootball has been told that Texas has felt pretty good about conversations since the 6-4.5, 310-pounder made a visit to Florida for the LSU game over the weekend. With that said, there is also some confidence on the Florida front. The Gators are working to get Charles back on campus this weekend for the Ole Miss game, and attempting to pressure Charles to open up his recruitment early this week. 

Texas and Florida duking it out for one of the nations top defensive linemen. 

 

Ooof. That'd suck. Can't afford to lose either DT. Bizarre with Florida being so unstable now. Need to close that one out.

The coffers got more stable since they aren’t paying for a buyout 

Is NIL the driving force here @Gerry Hamilton, or is Texas fighting homesickness as well? Has sounded like Sharma and Charles had struck up quite the bond, and he's also close with Hilson from what's been reported.

BIG mistake on his part if he flips to them. We’ll be fine regardless, But i can’t say the same for Florida.

If you want to win big boy DL recruitments in the SEC then you need to be able to pay big boy NIL prices on the DL. Plain and simple.

This recruitment might be an important lesson in the “just win” recruitnik thinking.

D’Antre Robinson seen up close and personal and he made the same mistake of picking florida over us. 

Wonder if Florida bought someone in his family a house like they did with Dantre Robinson.  

I did not have Florida becoming a recruiting problem in this cycle on my bingo card going into the year & yet here we are.

You don’t know what their DT allocation is this cycle. Of course DT’s are expensive. I don’t think anyone at Texas thinks otherwise, but if Charles runs up his price so much that it means Texas can’t get the immediate help they also need in the portal, what do you do?

Accounting decisions come into play in all these situations. Of course you want 3-4 elite HS DT’s and 2-3 more good portal dudes but the money tree ain’t endless.

Hat’s off to you for being able to wait 30 min for an update.   I haven’t made it past 15-18 min in quite some time 

Yea, I’m not sure what about Napier inspires confidence at this point in his tenure. But my loins are heavily girded at this point.
