Five-Star 2025 WR Update (Tuesday AM)

Texas has three wide receivers committed in the 2025 class at the moment, three really good wide receivers at that.

However, I received word that the Longhorns are continuing to work on Oregon commit Dakorien Moore. A flip of the Ducks WR commit would be difficult and I am told it would be rather unlikely, however, it is worth mentioning that the phone is still being picked up for now.

Moore committed to Oregon on July 4 and has been firm since then.

Right now, this just remains something to monitor.

  • I just got over July 4 yesterday and @CJ Vogeldoes this smh

  • I would say let this go…don’t piss off the kids that truly want to be at Texas. If you need that much convincing you don’t belong at UT.

Not to be a downer but DK Moore has turned down Texas twice.  He's a great prospect but I don't think he wants to be a Longhorn, and it seems that his family may be pushing it that way.  Those kinds of situations don't usually end well.  I wish the young man good luck but Texas would be better suited going after someone else imho.

As long as pursuing him fruitlessly doesn’t negatively impact those already in the fold, no harm no foul

Interesting to hear as other sites are saying we've backed off. I tend to think we keep the lines open until he signs but as others have said the kid just doesn't seem to want to be a Texas.

He’s a guy who plays year one. Not unlike Wingo IMO.

Is a bird in the bush that will make the bird in hand leave worth it?

Well it was his mom that said they haven’t heard from Texas.  But that seems to have changed in the last two days I guess.

Ryan Williams told us no. Would you still want him on this team? The kid got money whipped by uncle Phil and he can't change his mind?

With the transfer portal, never back off. The chance of him going to Oregon, getting home sick, or the situation changing and him deciding to be closer to home in Year two of Arch is too value not to keep building that relationship.

meh, the kid isn't a culture fit.

IMO there are maybe a handful of kids a year that despite cultural fit or not they are absolutely must takes due to talent level.

Thanks CJ . Does the Ducks have a QB in place for next year? If not they may become yesterday’s news . I don’t believe more would like that . He seems like the kind of player that likes the headlines to me . One thing I’ve learned. Never underestimate SARK 🤘

Yep. Former five-star Dante Moore is QB2 and Austin Novosad, a really talented CenTex QB prospect is in waiting at QB3. They are more than fine at QB.

CJ, wasn’t DK Moore just at LSU for the Alabama game?  I have always gotten the vibe that his family wanted him at Texas but Dakorien would rather go somewhere else to play college ball.

This is how I have felt as well.  I would also add that prior to him picking Oregon over the summer, some people around Duncanville thought Ohio State was going to be his pick.  He never came out publicly in favor of Ohio State, but prior to his announcement, he had told a few people it was going to be Ohio State.

As much as I hate losing out on him, I am happy with the three that we have committed.  If Dakorien wants to be at Texas it’s a different story, but like you stated earlier, he has turned us down twice officially and three times unofficially.

Freshman Ryan Williams would out shine him at Bama for sure . Kelly’s job getting a little shaky at LSU . Texas is most practical option. Get to catch balls from Arch .

Maybe they can get former five star WR Johntay Cook to make their receiver corps extra salty too.

There was no culture issue prior to the Oregon commitment, DK just screwed up after his commitment to Oregon.
