Come on guys - he took the easier job. Schloss said how hard it is to recruit the portal when you’re playing in Omaha. Why wouldn’t Cain go to College Station where his hands won’t be tied by any post season trips? 
 

Texas will be fine, and I assume Schloss had someone he wanted already lined up - see Oregon.

Financial backing for baseball was a legitimate concern under Pierce because some of the folks who would’ve helped put money into the program weren’t willing to do so unless a coaching change was made. Texas doesn’t have the biggest pool of baseball resources in the SEC, but the program isn’t poor.

Also, as @Blake Munroe mentioned in his notes this morning, Cain leaving wasn’t strictly a money move.

I may be way off but I’m not sitting worrying alot about it. Was it expected? Not by the fan base.  Guys that have been in the game as long as Schloss know alot of guys and I’m sure have a list of guys that he’d be interested in.  Like Bobby said, Schloss was going to the World Series way before Cain and he’ll be going way after he is gone.  I have confidence that CDC will keep the money where it needs to be.
