So excited for this season. Feels like this team can actually make a push for the conference and a FF appearance.

With Spears Jr. ... he is making a fair # in year one from what I hear. This wasn't a bargain recruitment for Texas. That was Austin Goosby who took half of what BYU was offering to be at Texas. But t

Seems like we have good reason to have a thread to chat on all summer and through the season.    Team workouts begin June 1, I believe

I do think Texas is potentially better at every position (not to start the season at SG), with one distinction ... Texas played two SF's last year and not a traditional 4 man, so they are combined.

Hearing Elyjah Freeman's raw talent really catching eyes so far. Very quick second jump, ball handling showing improving signs and can play in the ball screen game

Who will be the Chendall Weaver type guy? The spark, hustle, energy, 5-tool player? Is Freeman the one?

Amari Evans ... different player. But that role, but I believe Evans is/will be a better offensive threat

Need a new year added to that Final Four banner soon man. I’d also love a Half court piece installed for a National Championship. Need it like I need air. If you look at what Florida or Michigan does with the courts they’ve won Nattys on I’d love it if Texas did that when they eventually win one with Sean Miller.

Who is the legit SEC level big man for when Matas gets in foul trouble?

Texas likes where John Clark is going as a player. He's a 6-10'ish, 235-240-pound guy.

Obiorah can be a rim protector, but is stricktly a defensive player at this point in his development.

Texas could play small with Punch as a "college 5", but they will do that some regardless of foul trouble.

I still expect the Horns to likely add a small role playing back up big as final roster piece.

Both Florida and Michigan had so much length this past year.   Feels like you need that kind of length to be a serious contender.  Like multiple skiled guys over 6-9 who can defend and run the floor.  Doesn’t seem like we are quite there yet.

Texas has enough. Doesn’t mean they will make a FF or play for a title, but the roster has what it needs to be a contender

Gerry i need some early notes on the team after workouts

One quote I got thus far ... "Squad"

Texas staff is very excited after a week.

I've posted prior... Matas is 7% body fat right now.

Mikey Lewis has had the best %'s in shooting workouts, followed by Ogden and Johnson.

Punch is working to take a step as a perimeter threat. Around 250-pounds right now.

Evans is also looking to make a leap from three, but Texas wants him to be a Josh Hart college version for this Texas team.

Isaiah Johnson transitioning to full time lead guard/team runner/PG. He's so well schooled, and prepared.

Austin Goosby has had so some jumpers knee (still growing), but his skill set and upside is showing. Future 1st rounder ... hopefully for Texas its after two seasons.

If Punch can take that step it opens up the floor.

No chance Matas is 7% body fat
