I don’t know if this team will hit enough to beat the really good teams

That's the consensus about this team. Staff can compete with anybody, the ceiling will be determined by the offense.

It's a long season, we've looked good in all games before this one, Jonah needs to get up to game speed, etc... but still. Outside of Robbins, we've been totally non-competitive against a #2 starter from the Big 10. Not a great day!

Burns hits 97 on third strikeout of the inning. Horns win 3-1! 🤘🏻

My daughter is having her 8th birthday party today, so I won’t be on my usual play-by-play and analysis duties for the game. Here’s to a series win and a chance to sweep on Sunday!

I’m an old sportswriter and happy to post some updates. It’s 73 degrees but very windy. Wind blowing left to right at the moment. Have a great party! 🤘🏻

Ehh, Jim and Max had to decide how to rebuild a hollowed out roster. They started with pitching, and our freshmen arms are insane. The position player group is great at the top, but as Jim has repeatedly said, the position player depth is not where he wants it to be. He'll get it there.

Grubbs strikeout. Tinney another throw out at second to end the threat. Going to the bottom of the seventh still 1-1.

It early in the season so we’ll see how they progress. We have some guys that can leave the yard. Alot of these arms we have maybe we won’t have to score that many per game

Temo single to right but Duplantier holds up at second. MSU starter’s day is done with 93 (I think) pitches. Righthander #41 in to pitch.

Pack fielder’s choice to 2B. Temo out at second. Duplantier to third with two outs. Scores on passed ball! Horns lead 2-1.

Larson could transition to a full-time DH role once Jonah Williams is fully healthy

He's been great! But (1) to reach our ceiling, we need to get Livingston going and (2) Jim only likes Larson against RHPs

Jonah is taking too many good pitches early in his at bats, getting behind, and having to bat defensively

Grubbs gets a groundout to third and a fly ball to center that the wind held up. Then Temo with an MLB dive and throw for the third out!

Schlossnagle continues to use Jayden Duplantier as a late-inning defensive replacement
