USC Announces Players Re-Signing with School

Had not seen something like this so far in the NIL era.

USC is announcing players are re-signing with the school via NIL or whatever contractual agreement they have in place.

Wonder if this will become the norm across the country.

Setting a bad precedent…..even if it’s true…..typical USC

The sooner college football fans realize this isn’t their daddy’s college football, the better we will be. There is no bad precedent set here, this is the new era of college football. Adapt or die!

Every school does this, making a whole post for every player you re-sign is stupid.

Why is it bad precedent?

I wonder if we’ll get a Lincoln Riley re-signing pic (or not)? 😉

Both players a back-ups on the current depth chart, btw.

Adapt or die. USC won’t be the last team you see do that. It’s marketing.  Will it be stupid when Texas starts doing it?  Because we will!

Yes it would be stupid if Texas does this.
Really don't care for this free-agent type of deal after every season.
You say "adapt or die" I say they should change the system and regulate everything a lot more, which is something that every school would want.
If it stays like this cfb is gonna slowly disintegrate, and it has nothing to do with players getting paid or not.

This accomplishes nothing and only further perpetuates the player-as-commodity complex.

Didn’t A&M do something to this effect after last season?  They didn’t call it resigning, it was something else, but the same idea.

I simply don’t like it. That’s just me. The messaging it sends. Announcing returning players as “re-signings” normalizes college football as pure pay-for-play professionalism, eroding the last pretense of amateurism and the student-athlete tradition... the student-athlete tradition which is an illusion, I know….. we are at pay for play. Just my opinion.

I do think that things like this push the envelope even further that these kids are indeed employees of their respective institutions and collective bargaining should be on the horizon.

Yep, collective bargaining needs to happen to set a cap and guidelines.

Yes. Let’s cap everything so bag game becomes effective again!

How long before these guys don't have to be enrolled in classes anymore? Some of them are getting more compensation than their professors.
