Signing with a new agency is usually viewed as a posturing position. These 3 Longhorns signed with the same agency this season:

Trey Owens - publicly signed* 10/12

Ryan Niblett - publicly signed* 11/12

Colton Vaskek - publicly signed* 11/28 

**publicly signed with agency meaning they could have been with them before, but it was not posted until listed date  

Niblett getting new representation makes sense and it doesn't necessarily mean he is leaving. But he will likely be looking for more money/opportunity (as he should). The other 2 I would say are gone.

I'd caution against blanket statements, however.

They actually shouldn't have agents if the agents are going to take 15% of rev share. At that point, I'd shop myself and just hire a contract attorney to review and advise for about $1-2k instead of the $15k+ an agent might want.

Agents are like leaches, very difficult to rid oneself of them when they serve no purpose.

Good call on that. I suppose I mean someone in their corner advising them. Hopefully this agency is trustworthy for them.

 A bad agent for sure is a leach. A better way for me to phrase it would have been “all players should have someone in their corner advising them”. It’s become very complicated with NIL.

I just can't believe agents want 15% of rev share. That's just nuts to me.

Niblitt is one of the best returners if not the best in the country but how much is that worth when you are a below average WR, $250k? 

Isn't Colton Vasek one of Arch's 4 roommates? I've always thought that may help him stay.

I mean he might just want more playing time and a fresh start. Getting an agent doesnt necessarily mean he is gone, but I wouldnt be surprised. He has had a lot of injuries. It could be a mutual decision between him and Texas if it happens.

He bailed us out a lot this year, but yes it is a tough conversation I’m sure. We will see. He has been very transparent with his mindset on potentially leaving last year, and staying ended up being the correct call, so maybe he makes that decision again. Either way he is a Longhorn Legend for life and will always have a fan in me! 🤘

Agree, that’s absolutely insane. Had no idea they could take that much. 

The agent on a contingency should take no part of the initial offer by the college, but only a percentage of his negotiated improvement of the offer.

I'm sure this opinion will be unpopular but I don't see Niblet as being a very special returner.  I think the special teams blocked really well for him and his TD returns were a complete team effort.

I actually agree. He’s been awesome but doesn’t have elite change of direction or the ability to make guys miss.

I feel like Niblett has been a team player and maximized every opportunity he got. Every play in football takes all 11 guys. 
 

I hope he stays, like Sark said he is a “culture” guy. But I understand that he likely has a strong market NIL wise OR could declare. So happy for the moments he gave us this year!

Forgot about his sweet daughter. Would be so happy for him if he declares. You are right, his value will not get higher than this. Likely an all-american season. Longhorn Legend for life.

After seeing Jaydon Blue get drafted in the 5th round, I don’t think anything would shock me anymore
