USC DT Bear Alexander took to twitter Wednesday afternoon to silence the reports and speculation about a potential portal entry. Reports surfaced yesterday that Alexander would be entering the portal when the window opened on April 15. The Texas spring game kicks off Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DKR, concluding the 15-practice spring session for Steve Sarkisian's program. Of course, many will look at the spring game as the final test after a months worth of studying. Quarterback - Small, nuanced changes with Quinn Ewers. He's only built upon last year's conditioning improvements. Arch Manning and Trey Owens both have very strong arms and will be more than capable when their time comes. Running Back - The inclusion of Tre Wisner by Sark in yesterday's post-practice media availability was clearly deliberate. Wisner may not be no. 1 or 2 on the depth chart, but he has worked himself into a situation where Sark thinks he's going to contribute significantly to this team from the backfield. Yesterday afternoon, I wrote about the movement during spring on the offensive side of the ball, what we learned, what we didn’t, etc. Now it’s time to do the same for the defense. AUSTIN, Texas — Despite residing in the South Plains and playing at Lubbock (Texas) Cooper-Liberty, 2028 tight end Koleman Hendrix made his second trek down to Austin earlier this summer for Elite Camp. Steve Sarkisian has made another hire to his program at Texas, but this time it’s an off the field addition. Errin Joe has been hired as the new Director of Scouting at The University of Texas, first reported by Matt Zenitz. Joe comes from Georgia Tech where he was previously a graduate assistant on the offensive line before eventually transitioning to Assistant Director of Player Personnel and General Manager of Georgia Tech Football. Joe spent time at Alabama and UConn as well. He played his college ball at Georgia Tech where he was an offensive lineman and a starter on Tech’s 2014 Orange Bowl squad. After an amazing start to conference play, Texas baseball has come back down to earth. The Longhorns have lost five of their last six conference contests by a combined run total of 42-17. Yet the Horns still have a two-game lead in conference. Texas needs to win two of three against Oklahoma this coming weekend to secure the regular season crown. More concerning is the post-season. Texas has looked like a shell of itself the last two weekends, striking out too often at the plate while the starting pitching has routinely lost its matchups. Here’s some of the most notable buzz OTF collected on campus. — Texas seems to be moving the needle with four-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror out of Mobile (Ala.) Vigor. He arrived on Friday and will leave Austin on Sunday. He’ll return for a June 12-14 official visit. Garror spent a lot of time with LaAllan Clark, who led Garror and his family on a walking tour. - The scrimmage on Saturday featured a lot of 1s vs 1s and 2s vs 2s. But it also featured a lot of rotation between the groups, especially on offense. Portal iDL Jay Toia will be returning to UCLA following a portal entry this spring according to UCLA's official football account. Toia was on campus for the Texas spring game over the weekend with his family and younger brother, who received an offer from the Longhorns while on the trip. The Longhorns added an interior defensive lineman Monday afternoon with the announcement of Arizona DL Bill Norton. Just a week after suffering a concussion in overtime against Mississippi State, the redshirt sophomore quarterback was removed entirely from the SEC injury report last night.
