  18. AUSTIN, Texas — Longhorns defensive lineman Hero Kanu (pronounced kah-new) had an NFL decision to make this offseason, with some services placing the German defensive lineman as high as a Day 2 draft selection. So with playing on Sundays well within reach, why did Kanu opt to come back to the Forty Acres for one more year? “We have a saying … Coach (Kenny) Baker always tells me, just to keep me humble: you never arrive,” Kanu told reporters on Wednesday after practice. “It doesn't matter what you do, you nev…

  22. The Clarion Ledger released its 'Dandy Dozen' for the 2026 season on Monday. It's an annual list of a dozen of the state's top rising senior football players that comes out each August. Dating back to 1989, the Dandy Dozen is arguably the most prestigious award/list a Mississippi HSFB player could be named to. Texas EDGE commit Derwin Fields has often brought up being named to the Dandy Dozen as one of his main goals he hopes to accomplish before heading off to college. Well today, he accomplished that goal. Mississippi has long been one of the better states when it comes to producing NFL players. While Fields has been viewed by national scouts and media as a t…

  23. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports has reported Texas EDGE J'Mond Tapp has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Tapp appeared in seven games in 2023 while accumulating eight tackles in his 98 snaps. Tapp becomes the fourth Texas Longhorn to enter the portal in the spring season, joining S'Maje Burrell, Payton Kirkland and Billy Walton. View full news story
