Texas 2025 scheduled: Ranked from easiest to toughest When looking at the Longhorns 2025 schedule, I started ranking them in my head on one of the Coffee&Football shows around a question from the chat. The main question was then how do you rank them, and by what would cause the ranking. For me, it came down to when the game is, where the game is, the magnitude of the game and the opposing quarterback and offense. Here is my ranking of the schedule easiest to toughest. 12. Texas 2025 Targets: Yes, no or maybe The Texas Longhorns are closing in on a fourth straight top 5 recruiting class. There is the decent possibility Texas could finish as a high as No. 3, with No. 2 an outside shot. Texas currently has 22 commitments in the class with the class expected to reach 26 or 27, and could push to 28 if there is an unexpected flip. As expected, the 2026 schedule is heavy on the Manning family's history in the SEC with Arch possibly being in his final year in Austin. Texas 4-star target to decide in March One of the top defensive targets for the Texas Longhorns in the 2026 cycle plans to announce his decision this spring. Houston (Texas) Mayde Creek 4-star+ linebacker Kosi Okpala told OnTexasFootball Monday afternoon that he is eyeing a decision in March, or possibly April. Okpala, 6-2.5 and 220-pounds, was offered by Texas January 22, 2024. Since that time he has been on campus three times and has been in steady contact with Pete Kwiatkowski and Johnny Nansen. Texas has added a former starting quarterback to its roster. Troy transfer Matthew Caldwell has signed with the Longhorns. Caldwell, who finished 141 of 223 for 13 TDs with 8 INTs in 2024, started six games for Troy last year. Caldwell is considered a "depth piece" for the Longhorns who are otherwise talented but very young at the position. Arch Manning is expected to start but behind him are redshirt freshman Trey Owens and true freshman KJ Lacey. As a grad transfer, Caldwell is clearly a stop-gap measure in case of injury. Another quarterback will be joining the Longhorns for the summer months. 2025 McCallum QB Luke Dunham has been offered a preferred walk-on spot with the Longhorns and has accepted. The offer came late Friday night and Dunham confirmed with OTF he would be accepting the PWO and joining the team after graduation. As a senior, Dunham started 9 games at McCallum, throwing for 2635 yards and 28 TD. He also added 678 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in those games as well. View full news story

Running back Velton Gardner has announced via his Instagram that he will be joining Texas this season as a graduate transfer. Gardner spent his first two seasons with Kansas and last three with SMU, adding some much needed experience and depth to the Texas running back room. View full news story

OnTexasFootball stopped by Crandall High Tuesday for practice to get the latest, and an up close look at the Texas 2027 offer. Texas and the 2026 NFL Draft The Texas Longhorns have had 23 players drafted in the last two NFL drafts. A lot of the talk this off-season has centered around the 2027 NFL draft being the next big one, in terms of numbers of draftees. Keynodo Hudson (Nickels) The biggest thing that stood out to me today from Keynodo Hudson was his mentioning that Michael Taaffe had been training at nickel. Hudson described Taaffe as a “cerebral assassin” who possesses great spatial awareness, instincts, and playmaking ability, all of which are traits that he says help Taaffe in the slot. Hudson also mentioned that Taaffe has a little experience there from previous seasons on plays where he rotates down from his natural safety position. Texas at Duke (75-60) thoughts: Morning after If one is doom and gloom or looking for a bunch of negativity, this isn't the post for you. Want to get that out of the way. I'm more excited about the potential of this season after the Duke game, than before. Texas has a legit coach, very good concepts in the half court on offense, a team with enough size to compete in the SEC and some players on the perimeter that will look different against future opponents.
