Texas women’s basketball has clinched a one seed in the 2026 Women’s NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns will face No. 16-seed Missouri State/Stephen F. Austin in Region 3 - Fort Worth on Friday in Austin. UT is coming off winning the SEC Tournament with a big win over South Carolina last weekend. Path to a top 5 level class: Texas needs to go on a run The Texas Longhorns 2027 recruiting class ranks in the 13-15 range as of May 6. One of the questions that is being asked of late is if Steve Sarkisian and staff have a shot at a top 5 level class in this cycle. While a lot of that could well come down to how many prospects Texas signs in the class, there is little doubt the Longhorns have a shot to finish with a class inside the top 10 rankings. Texas currently has 10 commitments, which is well behind the numbers of some others. Oklahoma leads the country with 21 pledges. 2028 DL Kellan Hall to Visit Texas May 31st **** The Longhorns will be hosting a massive 2028 prospect at the end of the month for the Elite Camp. Kellan Hall, a five-star defensive lineman out of the Christian Academy of Louisville, will be one of the headliners for the Longhorns Elite Camp on the 31st. Israel “Izzy” Hammons has kept a lower profile as a recruit and hasn’t been talked about enough as a Texas linebacker target. At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Hammons plays his high school ball north of the Red River at Choctaw High School in the East OKC metro area. One of the better programs in the Sooner State, Choctaw has played in the OSSAA 6A State Championship in back to back seasons and took home the state title during Hammons’ sophomore season in 2024. Monday update on 5-star WR Dakorien Moore The headliner of a loaded visit weekend at Texas April 5-6 was Duncanville (Texas) High 5-star wide receiver and LSU commit Dakorien Moore. Moore made the trip from Dallas to Austin with his mom, who is from Austin. Today marks the last day any player, on any team, can enter the NCAA transfer portal. Football players must submit appropriate paperwork by 11:59pm tonight in order to be eligible elsewhere next season. The NCAA grants a 48-hour grace period for schools to enter a player's name into the portal. While we have heard of multiple Longhorn players contemplating such a move, we have not heard of any paperwork officially being filed, at least not as of yesterday afternoon. Former Converse Judson and Oregon defensive lineman Johnny Bowens tells me he is finalizing a date to visit Texas. Bowens was recruited by the Longhorns in the class of 2023 and ultimately ended up choosing the Ducks over Texas A&M and Texas. As CJ Vogel reported yesterday, Texas has had preliminary contact with Converse Judson defensive lineman Johnny Bowens. Bowens originally chose Oregon over Texas and Texas A&M in the class of 2023 and spent the fall of '23 and spring of '24 in Eugene before entering the transfer portal.
