Out of state 4-star++ visitor on campus Clearwater (Fla.) High 4-star++ right tackle Samuel Roseborough is in Austin visiting his mom for spring break, and has been on campus today. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound ultra athletic tackle is also expected on campus tomorrow to watch the team workouts as part of a two day unofficial visit. Roseborough is also scheduled to make an official visit June 20-22nd. OTF considers the Longhorns the early leader for one of the nation's top offensive line prospects in the cycle. One of the nation's best visiting in early April According to a source on the West Coast, 4-star++ safety Jett Washington (Las Vegas, Nv./Bishop Gorman) is scheduled to make his first unofficial visit to Texas in early April. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound football and basketball standout will be playing in a 7v7 tournament in Dallas April 4-6, and is scheduled to make his way to Austin to visit Texas unofficially after the conclusion of the tournament. Texas DB Derek Williams Jr. Returns to Practice OnTexasFootball has been told Texas safety Derek Williams Jr. was fully suited up and on the practice field for the Longhorns Saturday for practice No. 9 of the spring. Texas has been the favorite to land the 6-foot-4 CG that started 25 games for the Big East Champion since entering the portal. One might label the Texas transfer portal class from the 2024-25 cycle as lackluster if their assumption is based on how ESPN ranked the Longhorn newcomers. Defensive tackle Maraad Watson and tight end Jack Endries are the only two transfers coming into Steve Sarkisian’s program ranked among ESPN’s top 100 portal entrants. Boom! Texas adds 2026 K Jake Collett to the 2026 class after his official visit this weekend. Collett just wrapped up his trip to Austin with his parents where he made his decision Sunday morning in front of the staff. Collett is ranked as the No. 2 kicker according to Kohl’s Kicking rankings. I gotta admit, it’s fun covering (and following) Texas recruiting. With Steve Sarkisian, there never seems to be a dull moment. Yesterday is case in point. Pensacola, Fla., five star defensive end Trenton Henderson surprisingly visited Texas. It was an unofficial visit. And now it looks like Texas will get one of his final official visits on June 20. Running back CJ Baxter is the only player listed as “doubtful” in this week’s initial injury availability report submitted to conference officials yesterday. Baxter has missed multiple practices in the past week while dealing with a lower leg injury sustained on the very first play of the UTEP game. The Week of Practice Ahead of Mississippi State Game The Longhorns board for Starkville Friday afternoon for what is hoping to be a bounce back performance against Mississippi State. Defensively, after seeing 89 snaps on the field in Lexington, the staff ensured a lighter workload at the beginning of the week. Texas practiced Monday, and did so without helmets. Basically a longer walk-through to try and save some energy on the legs while installing the game plan for the week. 4-star LSU commit in Austin until Sunday OnTexasFootball reported Saturday morning that 4-star offensive tackle Brysten Martinez (Gonzales, La./East Ascension) was a "maybe" to visit Texas for the Vanderbilt game. OTF can now report that not only did the 6-foot-6, 305-pounder make it to Austin for the game, but he will remain in Austin and on campus through Sunday afternoon. Texas offered Martinez May 1, 2024 after a Kyle Flood visit and in person evaluation. At the time, the Longhorns worked to get him on campus. A quick update on the Texas scholarship count with the early enrollees now fully moved onto campus and the semester starting back up for the spring term. By my count, Texas sits with 78 scholarships on campus at the moment, with three waiting to arrive in the summer. Yesterday was bittersweet for me. Blake Gideon is someone I consider a Lifetime Longhorn. From the very minute he stepped on campus 16 years ago as a freshman from nearby Leander, Gideon was determined to make a positive impact for the Longhorns.
