Speed has been the name of the game for the Texas offense this season. From Isaiah Bond to Jaydon Blue to Ryan Wingo to Matthew Golden and on and on and on, Texas is fast. As we have seen so far this season, you never know which Longhorn is going to be the one to hear their number called for a big play. As a defensive coordinator, that is pretty terrifying. Texas is on the board in the portal! The Longhorns have landed former Utah P Jack Bouwmeester out of the transfer portal! Bouwmeester wrapped up his visit to Austin Friday morning and did so with a bang. The 2x all-conference punter has made his decision and he will be joining Jeff Banks and Steve Sarkisian in Austin, Texas. Bouwmeester averaged 44.9 yards per punt in 2024 at Utah. Barring an unforeseen change of the highest degree, the Texas Longhorns will enter the 2025 season with the same head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator for the fifth consecutive season. Quite the accomplishment considering the success of the program of the last two seasons and the job opportunities available to other assistants in Austin. A Texas special teams analyst will be moving on to a coordinator role according to a report by Football Scoop. Analyst Jeff Crosby has accepted the App State special teams coordinator position according to the report. Crosby had been a member of the Texas staff since 2021 when Texas hired Steve Sarkisian. Formerly, Crosby spent time with Southern Miss and Washington. The Longhorns will be experiencing all sorts of turnover in the special teams room next year. A week and a half into the spring and there has been a major theme on display amongst the offensive side of the ball – youth. Young cats, and hungry dogs are filing in the huddle next to QB Arch Manning to begin the spring practice session. Since Sarkisian took over, this projected offense is the youngest and most inexperienced we have seen in Austin. 1st Quarter: That is a fantastic start for the Texas defense. A quick three and out which began by a tackle for loss for Anthony Hill Jr. Let’s see what the Texas offense can do to capitalize. The Texas defense has yet to be truly tested. Michigan was a test, sort of. But a formidable offense, they are not. Before anointing the Horns this season as truly the nation’s best, we need to see them against a stout offense, or at least one with some firepower. 2025 Mission Viejo CB Dijon Lee will no longer officially visit Texas this week he told me late last night. Instead, the plan will be to arrive June 18-20 for a midweek official visit. Lee had originally been scheduled to arrive this afternoon and spend all of Thursday and parts of Friday with the Texas staff before hitting the road for his official visit to Texas A&M. Texas continues to have plenty of ground to make up here, as Lee previously left the Longhorns out of his top four — Georgia, Alabama, Washington and A&M.
