Texas is at the exact midpoint of spring ball. Today is practice no. 8 of 15 total. Couple of notes: 1. Because of expected inclement weather on Saturday, Texas has moved its annual high school coaching clinic from Saturday to Friday. We’re awaiting word on whether Texas might also move its Saturday practice to Friday as well. Getting to see the Horns practice is always one of the high points for Texas high school coaches but there’s just not enough room to accommodate them all if practice is forced inside the bubble. 2. The calendar is changing for Gunter OT Caleb Siler. Originally scheduled to officially visit Texas the June 19-21 weekend, the 6-foot-8, 295 pounder will now see Austin the June 12-14 weekend. With the move, official visits to South Carolina (June 12-14) and Texas Tech (June 16-18) have also been canceled. Siler has already taken OVs to Northwestern (May 8-10), TCU (May 19-31), and Arkansas (June 5-7). The original plan was to make a decision on June 21st, but a commitment is now expected shortly after Siler makes his way to Austin this weekend. I listened to Steve Sarkisian’s press conference on Sunday afternoon. You could hear the disappointment of the loss in his voice. But, per usual, Sark was fairly even-keeled overall. Not too high, not too low. So here’s Sark’s plan over the next few days: He said he’s going to give the players a quick mental and physical rest. The players will not have practice Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. That will give he and his staff time to break down the Clemson film and start piecing together a gameplan before practice resumes. There has been a named we have mentioned of late as a target for the Texas staff. Texas takes the field for the final scrimmage of fall camp tomorrow morning. The scrimmage will be a mock game – no coaches on the field, traditional entrances in and out of the tunnels and TV timeouts filtered in for the feel of what a real football game in the fall would feel like. Unlike a week ago, it is expected parents and traditional practice guests will be unable to attend the Longhorns' practice. This is as close as you will get to the 2025 Texas football team as one will get before August 30. In all, four of those 2027 offers hail from Southern California. Texas defensive back Austin Jordan becomes the latest to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Jordan, a member of the 2023 Texas recruiting class, appeared in 25 career games as a Longhorn, though mostly in a reserve capacity. Wanted to share my initial thoughts after meeting and speaking with new Texas basketball coach Sean Miller first in a smaller, semi-private setting and then from sitting front row in the larger auditorium. I think Texas found itself a basketball coach first and foremost. That is not taking a shot at anyone at guys who have come before him. The Texas staff recently extended a late 2026 offer to Humble (Texas) Summer Creek edge rusher Brinley Tita. The in-state standout didn't wait long to take the Longhorns up on the invitation, and has signed with the program ahead of summer. The new 105 scholarship limit has allowed the UT staff to add more developmental pieces to the fold. Per a source at Texas, Tita is seen as a solid in-state player that adds depth to the edge room.
