SEC: Most impactful portal losses for Texas opponents The Texas Longhorns haven't lost any player of consequence to the portal, and have already signed three starter level additions. While the news is very positive for Texas, that's not necessarily the case for Texas' arch-rivals and some opponents on the SEC schedule in 2025. OnTexasFootball begins the week with a look at the portal losses for the Longhorns SEC opponents. Texas 2025 schedule impacts... Oklahoma Nic Anderson, WR, Katy (Texas) High Injured in 2024. NFL top 2 round projection entering the season. Bauer Sharpe, TE, Dothan (Al.) High - LSU 42 receptions for 324 yards a…

- The choices of Anthony Hill, Jaylan Guilbeau and Derek Williams to work with helmet communication gear to begin during today’s practice was noteworthy. - Silas Bolden moved from the fourth person to return punts to the first in day two. That’s called a quick ascension. He’s a natural punt returner. - DeAndre Moore was yet again the first non-specialist to arrive at practice. The sophomore from Los Angeles isn’t going to give up his spot willingly. - Tight end continues to look like a surprising team strength. The mix and depth give the Horns a little something they didn’t necessarily have a year ago. - Alfred Collins seems to have more of a bounce in…

Official visit season is over, now commitment season begins. And we should be seeing some pre-July 4th fireworks in favor of Texas in the coming days/weeks. This week alone, five Texas targets are scheduled to commit. Keyword here is: scheduled. Other targets are pondering their school choices and could announce at any point over the course of the next two or three weeks. For today we’ll focus on the scheduled announcements this week. Tuesday, June 23rd at 1:30 p.m. CT — WR Kyron Brown OTF likes the Longhorns’ position with the Amarillo (Texas) Palo Duro speedster. Kansas State is the main competition. Wednesday, June 24th at 7 p.m. CT — CB D…

Sophomore Jumps Needed from Seven Key Sophomores *** During the week we have taken a look at reasons for optimism, reasons for hesitancy and even taken a stab at some of the offseason's most topical hypothetical debates. Today, we are going to take a look at this season from a different perspective. For any of the goals that are set ahead for the Longhorns in 2026, several players in year two are going to need to take a jump in production. Many are coming off of freshman campaigns where there were glimpses throughout the season. But glimpses aren't going to last a full 16 game season. Texas needs those glimpses to become a constant. So, for this exerc…

Seven new Longhorns will join the program in June The Texas Longhorns will welcome at least seven newcomers to the program the last few days of May and June 1. Steve Sarkisian and staff added a key piece to the 2024 team Sunday with the commitment of San Jose State transfer cornerback Jay'vion Cole. The OnTexasFootball community asked for a rundown of the players that will be joining the program in late May and early June, and here is the latest with the understanding that Texas could still add more from the portal. Three portal transfers in June Silas Bolden, WR, Oregon State transfer Bolden, 5-8 and 165 pounds, will bring impact quicknes…

Summer conditioning officially begins June 2. The next chapter of the football offseason is right around the corner, meaning we are also that much closer to football being played, so congrats to us for that! Steve Sarkisian in the SEC Spring Meetings mentioned the team was done in the transfer portal, unless something arrises where they cannot pass up the opportunity. Which means Texas will likely be rolling with true freshman P Michael Kern or sophomore Ian Ratliff as their punter for the season. Texas will add four members of the 2024 recruiting class and three additions out of the portal for the first workouts of the summer – finalizing the roster for the 202…

Seven prospects OTF expects to lock in June OV's The Texas Longhorns have more than 40 June official visits locked in on the way to around 50 when all is said and done. This morning, OnTexasFootball looks at seven prospects we currently expect to lock in June OV dates in the next week or two. The seven ... Derrek Cooper, RB, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Cooper had a tremendous first visit last weekend, and cancelled his Penn State OV while on campus. That OV was scheduled for June 17-19. Sarkisian hasn't traditionally gone the mid-week OV route in June, but this could be a special circumstance level prospect. James Johnson, DL, Miami (Fla.) N…

We’re less than a month out from the 2026 NFL Draft getting underway from Pittsburgh. ESPN’s Matt Miller projected the entire draft, which will take place from April 23-25. Here’s a look at where Longhorns landed: SECOND ROUND Pick No. 44 — Anthony Hill Jr., LB — New York Jets Miller: “The Jets would continue to build a foundation with another rangy, talented front-seven defensive player. Hill was a three-year starter who has the athletic tools to be a fierce weakside linebacker. He had 17 career sacks and three interceptions at Texas.” Pick No. 60 — Malik Muhammad, CB — Chicago Bears Miller: “Losing Nahshon Wright in free agency was a big…

OnTexasFootball caught up with Pearland Shadow Creek Head Coach Tyrone Green to talk about Texas’ latest commit Brandon Sherrard. Few coaches have coached or seen more talent than Green and he’s also been to the State Title game three times and has one State Championship ring. Originally from Mississippi, Green played offensive line at the University of Houston before getting into coaching in 2003. He spent five years as an assistant at Houston Lamar from 2003-07. He then coached at Manvel in the 2008 season before returning to Houston Lamar for seven more seasons between 2009-15. Then Shadow Creek opened in 2016 and Green left Lamar to join the Sharks’ initial…

Steve Sarkisian and staff are expected a number of 2026 commitments, 2027 prospects and there is the possibility of two or three 2026 prospects committed elsewhere. This will serve as the game visitors thread. Prospects committed elsewhere ... The Texas staff is likely to have two or three prospects committed elsewhere on campus this weekend. OTF is holding off on the potential names on our end, for at least the next few days, as plans can always change with the committed school working to get the visits zapped. 202…

Signing Day December 4: What OTF is watching Signing day is just four days away with the dead prior set to begin at 11:59 pm EST tonight. The Texas Longhorns currently sit inside the top 5 of the class rankings, but are going head-to-head with Florida down the stretch to ensure a top 5 class. Florida Gators vs. Texas Longhorns in Florida and Georgia Florida is trying their hardest to flip Longhorns 4-star++ DL commit Myron Charles (Port Charlotte, Fla./High). Charles attended the FSU-Florida game Saturday night, and Florida is trying to get him to Gainesville today. Florida is also trying to flip 4-star+ defensive line Joseph Mbatchou (Loganvil…

Six players will decide who finishes with the No. 1 class We are six days away from signing day, December 4. And that means the race for the No. 1 ranked recruiting class is hitting the final stretch with the finish line in sight. For me, there are three programs in the running for the No. 1 class - Georgia, Texas and Auburn. Ohio State has a tremendous class and will finish top 4, but would have to come up with a huge flip to have realistic shot at No. 1. The race for the No. 1 class in the 2025 cycle is very likely to come down to six decisions - barring the unforeseen flip. The six players that will ultimately decides who finishes with the No. 1 …

Spring has sprung on the Forty Acres and plenty of recruits have already started making their way to check in on the Texas Longhorns. The UT staff has been busy at work locking in visit dates over the next two months, as well as putting together their summer OV schedule. Here, OTF takes a look at six recruits we believe the Longhorns lead for in the 2027 class as things stand on March 12. Kasi Currie, DL, Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon Currie has visited Texas twice since January, including attending UT’s first spring practice on Monday. A former teammate of Longhorns freshman Richie Wesley, Currie has UT’s attention, and vice versa. There’s no set com…

This could end up being of no consequence but I am told that Maryland defensive lineman Lavon Johnson has not signed with North Carolina to this point. Could very well end up being true and is still likely headed in that direction.

I mentioned earlier that safety Derrick Williams is still not “fully” back although he has been practicing some. One player who has been full-go this week is receiver Ryan Wingo. Wingo was held out for a lot of spring on a precautionary basis. His hamstring tightened and Texas just didn’t want to risk it, preferring to give it full time to resolve. Well, it’s resolved and Wingo has been back this week. Additionally, we are told that receiver DeAndre Moore is also suited out for practice. But he is not doing many live drills or 7-on-7 work following his off-season toe surgery. Sark understandably continues to err on the side of caution with key players and i…

I've watched enough Texas football in my lifetime to know when I witness a special performance. Arch Manning produced exactly that today. Lamented as a "bust" nationally just two months ago, Manning not only diced up the Wolverines running and throwing the ball, he also came up big in the big moments and showed the kind of grit and determination that is rare to see. Whether it was shirking a pass rusher on a fourth-and-two scramble, tossing a beautifully placed go ball to a true freshman wide receiver, or making a long run on a good play call, Manning did it all. Furthermore, he did it much of the day without three of his top four wide receivers and his top…
