The University of Texas has its sights on a new head baseball coach. Jim Schlossnagle is set to become the next head coach at Texas, as first reported by Horns247's Chip Brown. Sources have indicated to OTF the hiring will be official in the next day or two. Schlossnagle spent three seasons at Texas A&M, leading the Aggies to two College World Series trips (2022 and 2024). Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Texas RB coach Tashard Choice is expected to interview with the Dallas Cowboys soon. Choice is a former Cowboys player and has a long-standing relationship with owner Jerry Jones. Jones has even had Choice meet with the Cowboys’ rookie running backs in seasons prior. Choice makes $700,000 per year with the Longhorns. Most NFL RB assistants are paid in the $400k range. Choice almost certainly is due a raise with the Longhorns this off-season. Purdue tight end Max Klare, a third-team All Big 10 selection by conference coaches, is expected to visit Texas today, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Klare caught 51 passes for 685 yards and four TDs last season. He’s 6-foot-4, 240 pounds.

Not the news many want to hear, but In this day and age of recruiting, things can change fast. As of this minute, sources tell OTF that IMG Academy edge Jake Kreul will likely pick Oklahoma over Texas and Ole Miss tomorrow afternoon. The Sooners seem to have prioritized Kreul. Texas already has one of the nation's top defensive ends pledged in Richard Wesley. Where does Texas go from here? Texas definitely wants two defensive ends in this recruiting season. The Horns will likely wait things out until the season gets underway. Then, they will identify and bring a few players in for official visits in-season.

Just spoke with a source regarding Stanford edge David Bailey. I’m told this recruitment could end at literally any moment. That seems to be the hope of Texas Tech, who allegedly remains confident.
