Texas baseball is headed to Omaha this morning, a trip the program has made a record 39 times. It will be the first trip under second-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle. Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Dallas Skyline linebacker Elijah Barnes who made his announcement Friday afternoon. Barnes was on campus in Austin April 6 for an unofficial where he was the only linebacker in the 2025 class to visit for the weekend. He left with a special playbook in hand from Johnny Nansen as well which was a pretty strong indication of where things were trending. A big get for Johnny Nansen who makes his first splash as the Longhorns' linebackers coach since being hired. This weekend saw the Texas Longhorns basketball program add three players out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, a noticeable splash that Rodney Terry likely recreated Saturday afternoon as he and the Longhorn staffed paraded around on Lady Bird Lake via barge. It was a confusing and frustrating 2023-24 campaign. As Texas consistently lacked any sort of consistency or identity. Was it entirely Rodney Terry's fault? Likely not. But there was still moments that lead to some questions about his long term status as the Longhorns head coach. However, Terry made sure to leave to room for question about the identity he wants to have for the upcoming Texas basketball team. …

There remain a couple more Longhorns who are expected to enter the portal. None of them are starters. I originally expected 6-8 Longhorns to enter the portal. With 7 already entered, I’d adjust that number upward — 9-11 seems more like it at this point.

The Texas One Fund has made history with a new brand partnership announced Thursday. Texas One Fund announced a collaboration with the Passes, a creator monetization platform, for 40 of the top male and female athletes currently residing on The 40 Acres. The University of Texas has the best athletics department in the country after hoisting yet another Director's Cup. It is the fifth Director's Cup in the last six athletic seasons for Chris Del Conte and the Longhorns. With National Championships in volleyball, softball, golf, men's tennis, rowing and track & field in the time span, Texas has certainly added to the trophy room in the north end zone Hall of Fame.
