  3. Started by Bobby Burton,

This game is clearly setting up as a referendum on Sark vs Venables. ** Texas lost just two games a year ago. One of them, of course, was to Oklahoma. Avenging that loss, not for the team alone but also for Steve Sarkisian, too, is part of the equation this weekend. ** In five days, I hope to see a Texas team firing on all cylinders. On offense and defense. The Sooners are likely to make it harder on the Texas O in this game, at least early on. Remember, the Sooners were clearly ready for Texas during the first quarter of last season’s contest, intercepting Quinn Ewers’ very first pass. That sort of game prep is something Brent Ven…

  4. Texas is back after the bye week and is expected to face off with Florida who is down to 3rd string quarterback and Yale transfer, Aidan Warner this morning. Things should go in the favor of the Longhorns, but until you see it put together for 60:00, the questions will remain. *** 1st Quarter Texas will get the ball to begin the game. Let’s see something here, Quinn! Quinn Ewers looked sharp to begin the game. Three straight completions to begin the game and the Longhorns are cruising to midfield. Ewers looks good early on. He goes 5/5 in the first possession for 53 yards, yet the Longhorns end up with no points after a disastrous final three…

  5. Started by Bobby Burton,

The bottom line? Texas did what it was supposed to do. They dispensed early with an outmanned and outgunned opponent. While no game is perfect, the Horns didn’t let this game get “muddy”. Following the 4th and 1 conversion Texas literally swamped the Gators. It was a critical, early decision by Steve Sarkisian, but one that paid off with the type of performance a team can build on, particularly the Texas offense. Texas not only scored 35 first-half points, they played complimentary football while doing so. The offense scored in bunches, the defense created multiple turnovers and three-and-outs. That is the blueprint to follow for a team that …

  11. Texas Portal Grade so far: A- The Texas Longhorns are off and truly running in the transfer portal with three players having joined the program for the spring and 2025 season. Steve Sarkisian and staff have added three impact winning level players from the portal thus far with a number that could grow to as many as ten long term. Texas is addressing needs in a big way with one of the nations top punters, a heavy handed zero tech to play over the ball and a fast rising playmaking linebacker. Two-time all-conference punter ... Make no mistake, there aren't many two-time and back-to-back all-conference selection players in the portal. And Texas got…

  12. Texas Prioritizing Recovery During Bye Week *** Texas is just about through with their bye week's worth of practice. And I should use the term practice very loosely. For most of the week, Texas utilized walk-throughs to allow for the team to recharge their batteries after five consecutive weeks of play and hours of travel in between. There was a focus on cleaning up the mental side of the game, especially on the back end of the secondary. But all in all, not much physical strain was put on the Longhorns. A good chunk of guys who are able to, will return home this weekend to spend time with family and friends before locking back in on Sunday for the wee…

  15. Sark Needs to Stick With The Run Game, Even With its Flaws *** AUSTIN, Texas – It's been a rollercoaster of sorts over the last couple of seasons in regards to the running game under Steve Sarkisian during his tenure at Texas. For a while, it was the best thing going for the Longhorns. A Doak Walker Award winner, five NFL Draft picks and in back to back years the first running back off the board selected came from Texas. However, the days of expecting massive running performances have seemingly passed by the wayside. In fact, it is almost a surprise to see Texas run for 100+ yards from its running backs against SEC competition. It's frustrating. It's u…

  16. Confidence Required for Press Man Coverage *** Beyond all of the commotion and hooplah surrounding the clapbacks from Steve Sarkisian to the media this weekend, there is still a football game to be played this weekend. One, where the Texas defense will surely need to play its best ball in order to slow down what will be one of the best offensive units the Longhorns have faced this season. Obviously a big concern for the Horns over the last three weeks has been the pass defense. Texas has been very leaky in the back end with miscommunications and busted coverages showing up far too often. Opposing quarterbacks have tossed 11 passing touchdowns and are a…

  18. What the 2027 NFL Draft could look like It's still fairly early to have a great feel for what the 2027 NFL Draft will look like. That's because there are some decisions by juniors still remaining that will likely help shape the top 50 picks or so in 2027. With that being said, it's not too early to take a snap shot glance at many of the players that will be draft eligible, and how the early mocks could look. I put players in tiers to start until we know for sure which juniors with decisions to make (Ohio State OL's for instance) have announced. There is tier 1, which is top 10 level. There isn't 10 right now. Tier 2, which is top 30 type potential …

  19. For the final time in 2025, Texas will take the field. 1st Quarter The Texas offense begins the contest with the ball at the 25. That was one of the fastest paces Texas has shown all season and it results in a field goal. Sark wants this to turn into a track meet it appears. Arch made a heck of a throw on the first 3rd down, but misses a curl route in the red area and Texas settles for a field goal. Christian Clark's first rush attempt went for 22 yards which was a beauty of a sight! This is basically a brand new defense. Let’s see what we get. Michigan had success throwing the football on the opening drive. Then stubbed their to…

  20. There's been a lot of speculation regarding Texas Women's Basketball guard Aaliyah Crump as of late. The freshman was injured in mid-November and has yet to return to the floor for Vic Schaefer. Apparently there was a recent report that Crump is now going to redshirt, so I reached out to a team source this morning to get the latest. Crump continues to progress from her foot injury and is doing much better. However, no decision has been made on the former five-star at this time. The possibility to return is still there.

  23. Recruiting: Monshun Sales; decisions on deck OnTexasFootball broke the news that 5-star wide receiver Monshun Sales is scheduled to be in Austin today and Thursday. The news of the visits is also very interesting because the circle of Sales reached out to Texas and informed the staff of Monshun having serious interest prior to the recruitment beginning. With the 6-5, 205-pounder with 4.37 speed arriving in Austin today, that adds another top national prospect seriously considering the Longhorns. Sales has one official visit date open, June 5-7. The expectation is that Sales will lock in an OV date with Texas on the visit. Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama and …

Gerry Hamilton reported earlier this week a decision could come before July/August. Roberts will be back in Austin June 5-7 for his official visit. John Meredith III, 5-star CB, Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley Two visits to Austin in two weeks have Texas trending …
